have you taken a look at the website, m^e? This is a joke! Not a good one though. Looks like you got into a time warp when you call up this page. Back to the mid-nineties ;) First thing I kook at when I want to know about a new program is the screenshots. Mai mee, as our Thai friends would say. For non-Thai speakest: No have! No have, no try, no downloadie! :PcurareOn an additional not, trying to post this as a tutorial is a joke in itself. Not a good one though either :P

This isn’t the best browser and I don’t plan on downloading it, maybe if you had some pictures to show me, depends how appealing it looks, only that will depend on if I get it or not

I downloaded and installed it. I don't find it any different from Firefox - in fact, it looks 99.99% same as firefox in every aspect, except that some of the GUI elements have been simply shifted around. Overall, looks like some new skin of firefox - that's all. Only extra's are some blogging and other web-services related tools (can't really call them tools - just some new features).. in the Tools > Options.

Here's a screenshot for those who are interested:

About the website, hehe... you're right curare. Remind's you of the beginning days of HTML - lot of colours and that's about it.. I wonder how they got hold of the domain though. Someone in their team must have had it registered way back.. trying to buy this TLD now would cost a fortune.

Yup:

Domain Name: FLOCK.COM

Created on: 10-Feb-96

Last Updated on: 12-Jul-05

Bought during the early days..

You think maybe they actually started off a layout just like Internet Explorer's but shifted their idea to Firefox later on because so much more people liked it? Nice try though major9, personally i think new users are getting kinda weird in their posts. I'm not here to criticize but if you'll care to look at the memberlist, you'll find a bunch of members with 9-20 posts who just gotten hosting but find it hard to maintain their hosting credits. For people still earning their credits for hosting like major9, look at the post! There's a space for every single line, the browser isn't "new", and there isn't much information for a review. Again I'm saying I'm not like a sadist or something criticizing people's work but i find it annoying that there are posts around like this without any meaning to it, well a little i guess but nothing that would make someone in Xisto go-"Ah! I've heard of this!! Let me comment...". I hope i don't sound very horrible about it and if i appear very insulting m6e you can delete the post the and credits that go along with it. I just wish to state my opinion. Thanks!

MSE, did you actually like using Flock?

Something about it for me, made it a bit dodgey and weird, but I dont seem to be able to pin point what it was.

The star thing, well, I don't seem to grasp it at all.

Nope.. and exactly my feelings. I couldn't spot what was wrong, but surely I was looking for those words - Dodgey and Weird.. and like it's your extremely familiar browser with everything out of place. I didn't get the point of trying to come up with something like Flock when we have firefox in existence... I mean how much better can it get ? It's using the same goddamned engine running behind. Moreover, after using Firefox 24/7, if you start using flock, you'd immediately get into a real nasty mood when you can't find the right controls in the right place.

Seriously, I don't get the point of the whole effort.

Flock probably won't ever get any better than Mozilla Firefox. I really don't even think it can get as good as Internet Explorer!

I've never even heard the name before. Flock will probably never get popular among the Internet. And plus, Firefox will always be the best product. In Gmail's homepage (
https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=mail&passive=true&rm=false&continue=
https://mail.google.com/mail/
), it says that Firefox scored first in the most useful products of 2005.

Because of that, I recently decided to try Firefox. And it was so much better than Internet Explorer! I'd recommend Firefox over any browser. You can download it at:

Well this is just another browser using mozzila engine, just with its own gui, i don't really see the point, just maybe the developers wanted to do something, also I don't see the difference of using browsers with ie engine just with other gui/interface it will show the same.

Hmm, the intention is marked quite clearly on the page: Establishing some web features that have become more common directly into the browser.I actually think the ideas are not that bad (Blog directly, store favourites online, multiple favorite toolbars), but the browser is just a bad rip-off. I think they should join the FF developing community, I'm tired of new browsers with new personal problems, that you have to adjust your website to.I would not use this browser, because I don't make use of the features (online favourites are with Google, blogging is done not often, I don't REALLY need multiple toolbars) and this way the browser just gets overloaded and slow. That's why I stopped using Firefox: Safari is faster in any way and I can abstain from the neat FF plugins and features mostly. Sometimes I switch to get a JS-error-analysis, which I really need sometimes.

Man, and the website?! I mean, jeez - you'd think with all the stuff, they could come up with a more suitable website with the times! ...it's just basic, is all...Hey, who wants to bet they don't get past development/beta stages?
