Google.com/ig Personalized Start Search google offers an rss-integrating page

Recommended Posts

Hej!Found that out, while using Gmail, where they issued some news. When you surf to https://www.google.com/ ig you can use a personalized starting page with your google account. For me this has become my start page, because I use google services a lot (gmail, search, adsense) and because it allows me to view my RSS-feeds.I think it's really great because it combines the different Google Services and it's accessible from everywhere with just one login.I was also quite surprised about the "drag&drop" arranging feature on that page, it was quite surprising. I think I never saw something this smooth on the web (except gmail). It is clean, easy and fast. Sad thing, that I don't need this feature, otherwise I would rip it off somehow ;-)Well, check it out.Ruben

Yes this is true for me as well. I've been using this for about a month now and I love it!

Not only can you integrate RSS feeds, but other "Modules" from google and other websites. I have my Gmail inbox, The latest 3 Ask-Yahoo questions, a google-news search on the Tennessee Volunteers, the RSS feed for ESPN's college football news, local weather, and google-news Technology headlines.

This is only a small sampling of what they offer.

There have been similar offerings from google's competitors for a long time, but none have ever been as flexible as this.

Google is certainly coming into its own as a web-portal, not just a search. This personalized start page is a huge leap.

The included gmail support is new at least :/ I'm sorry that I wasn't aware that it is old, it was new for me and as you can see not only for me. I was not able to find the old topic where it was discussed earlier using the search (no i did NOT try for hours using every imagineable search term). I think you should watch your tone, ok I'm new and I don't know about everything that was discussed earlier but you cannot say that this is my fault.

I think they could work on it a little, they have taken simplicity a little too far. Anyway, I checked it out, and I don't think it is all that great. I'll stick to my current homepage.

@plot: If that is the case then sorry, I was a little bit too tired to recognize all intentions ;)
@guy: It is not that simple! The Drag'n'Drop feature is a really great thing (I think Google is really innovative, even though they don't keep to the rules ..
But it has a lot of advantages:
1. it is loading fast
2. it can be personalized using RSS
3. but you can access it anywhere
4. RSS feeding is a really nice (even though minor) newcomer on the internet and a lot of sites offer feeds for their changing contents.
5. It supports the Gmail Atom feed which I didn't get to work in my FireFox yet

What do you have in it?
I have the news, a magazine, cinema reviews, the quote of the day, the word of the day, the urban word of the day, Reuters Oddly Enough and Gmail of course.
Now that I'm abroad and using different computers and so on, this is my real homepage and I always get a good start for the internet there.

There should be a RSS-feed for Xisto latest posts or latest replies to your post, don't you think so?
