Yup, Live CDs have been around for a while. When I first saw this topic, I was hoping for information about distros that easily dual-boot from the hard drive...

I thought that this topic would be about ZipSlack...:

ZipSlack is a special edition of Slackware Linux that can be installed onto any FAT (or FAT32) filesystem with about 100 MB of free space ... you do not need to repartition your hard disk if you already have DOS or Windows installed. ZipSlack installs into a directory on your DOS filesystem...

Again - there are also LiveCD's based on other distributions that Debian(Knopic)... there is for example Slax based upon Slackware, also very good one...

Yes

 

There is usually a script or command that you can type into a konsole and install to HDD, just make sure you have your drives partitoned the way you want them first.

 

So far, my favourite live CD is Kubuntu.

You can also try coLinux on Windows ..its like VMWare ..but its more than an emulation.
