Windows Power Toys

Recommended Posts

I was browsing through the microsoft website a couple of minutes ago, and I stumbled across the Power Toys. They are little add-ons to windows that make life a whole lot easier and more appealing to the eye. Some of the ones I downloaded is the desktop manager, taskswitch toy, UI tweaks, and some others. The desktop manager lets you manage multiple desktops with different things on each. It's kind of like how the linux desktop manager is. The Task Switch enables thumbnail previws when using the Alt-Tab keystroke. It will show the preview of the program you are swithcing to in a small window, which is very helpful when you have multiple instinces of the same program open at once. There are about 8 more, but I don't know exactly what they are. You can find them here. Power Toys

Yeah these things have been around for ages now.. but nonetheless I'm sure a lot of people don't about them otherwise so this will be helpful to them. I personally don't bother with any of them, I once installed one and it didn't work (can't remember which one it was) so I just gave up on them and never really gave them another chance.Still, it's a good post and I do know of a lot of people that do use the PowerToys... so if you haven't already tried them out, they're worth looking at.

When I first saw Microsoft Powertoys last September...I thought they were really some tools that can really make XP more "powerpacked". From what I know now, it's merely a few tweaks with Tweak UI that you can find in system utilities programs like TuneUp Utilities 2004 which you can get for free and so on. The only useful tool I found there was the HTML Slideshow. If you really want to make XP more "powerpacked", get some programs by Stardock to change the visual stules and user interface and a couple of system utilities to optimize your system for maximium performance.
