Disk Usage Not Updated Im having a problem.

Recommended Posts

Im having a problem using fantastico because for some reason my cpanel wont update the current disk usage. I uninstalled a forum so I could install a new script, but since the disk usage dosnt get updated nothing happened. I couldnt innstall a new script since fantastico wont let med do that when I dont have enough space. This happened to me when I started out my hosting here. I couldnt use fantasticco to install scripts because I didnt have the space. Im sure now, as I was then that I infact have enough space. This is starting to get pritty annoying. So if someone, an admin or someone, could fix this problem for me I would be very happy. Thanks,Nqon

I've the same problem too. The disk usage on the main page of the cpanel does not update at all. It's a bit of a tiny inconvenience and I'm always afraid of exceeding the disk usage limit. Hope somebody fix this soon. Thanks in advance.

Not to worry guys. The disk usage meter is updated every 24 to 48 hours instead of in realtime.

This way your server isn't spending all of its time updating the disk usage meter instead of serving webpages to your users.

There are a few things you can do to conserve disk space though.

Make sure you remove your trash. This can be done in the File Manager by clicking the trash can.

Remove unused databases. Fantastico has a hard time remebering to do this during uninstalls.

Clear out unused template sets and skins. While you should always keep the default template or skin, keep only the templates you will use, uninstall all of the rest. Templates come with a large number of images that eat up space quick.

If you are using more than one subdomain, for the same scripts, cross link images instead of having more than one copy.

If you have 2 forums installed in 2 subdomains using the same templates, then point the one forum to the other to find templates. (Kind of advanced but will save space.)

Get rid of unused files. We all test stuff then for get that we left it sitting on the server, Go through you directories and cut out the fat.

Hope this helps, :D
