Yeah you can just copy and paste text from PDF reader to Word or some other text procesor program... but there is many more solutions to that problem... There is some program called "GhostScript" - that is free interpreter for Postscript a.k.a. PDF.... you can download it for free from this official page of Ghostscript

In Adobe you can choose the TEXT SELECTION tool which allows you to copy text or even box certain text that you want. But this also depends on the person who created the PDF. The person who created the PDF has the option of LOCKING the text so that it cannot be copied out through cutting and pasting.

I was able to select the text but when i pasted it into word or any other program, it was one huge block of text without spaces. I've done cause i haven't been able to find anything that will do the trick but i have to say it was - one huge pain- inserting spaces between words.
no fun

do you do it in bulk? copying text from PDF then editing it would be the easiest, i suppose. or you can always do it the *harder* way: print PDF, scan print-out with OCR (optical character recognition), then format/edit the pages to suit your needs. haven't been in this situation, so i haven't searched for an app (if there is any) to do the trick the easy way.

If you actually WANT to use the text into Word, then copy and paste is the simplest thing to do, although not quite legal when it comes to copyright...Otherwise try using pdf995 pdfedit995. They are free programs that let's you create and edit pdf files. I haven't had the chance of trying them out yet, but they come recommend by both my printers, Anthony Rowe and Printondemand-Worldwide, as tool enabling the creation of high quality, industry-standard pdf files.Hope this helps.

If it is allowing you to select and copy text under acrobat viewer then chances are you can extract text from that document. There are few PDF to word converters available. Some of them are freeware, so you can try them. If you're looking for software that does this job in bulk then go for it. else you've to settle with the manual conversion of single file for conversion to word file.

There is online converter that does the job is PDF2WORD. Another one is pdf2wrd. I think for starters these two are enough to get your job done. Other than that if needed you can go for convert pdf to word site. This site also does the job for free and it is online converter. also be wary about privacy terms as your file is uploaded in case of online converters. so your data is likely to be available online.
