My website up for review :)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

After much CSS fiddling and head scratching, here is my website homepage. I say homepage, for as I speak the majority of the site isnt uploaded yet, due to the general rubbishness of my PC. I realise this really annoys people, though I'm getting straight to it.

The site itself documents/will document my "skills" as a web designer, with a sort of "CV" and examples of what I can do. I was trying to do something a little different this time, not your usual conventional page.

Anyway, what do YOU think of the design? did it work? could it be improved?

Any constructive critisisms welcome!

It's looking pretty good! I like how the website is set out, and how the links are on the main page... one thing though, are you going to keep the heading as 'web-site'? I think you should change that to a more of a unique name... but it's still cool, keep up the great work! :D

"web-site" is the name of my site, as the address is "http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/;. Until the site has anything on it i cant really choose a name...Update: Due to unforseen circumstances (ie: my GCSEs) all work on the site as temporarily been suspended. I have to do a Media Studies project (its designing a webite, strangely enough).Yes, lifes hard when you're a teenager.

idea's good but your work is lacking sth bigyou need a slight border aorund the main frame(table) with a color that wont be easliy visible.the buttons are a good idea but again missing the spiritwhat i would do is place images with a slight shaddow (random intensiity) and blur them, make a roll over swap of those jpgs(gif, png) couse the site it self look rigid and uncompleatedhere's my 5 cents

I've been interested in learning more about the small, table-free, all .css thing, but I've never seen a layout like this. That is an extremely cool design. I like the colors, too.

Nice and simple and effective. The navigation and the perspective style is nicely done. My only slight criticism would be to make your lettering smoother on the homepage. Are you going to release it for other people to use?

LOL :P I must say that the navigation is really kinda funny to me. never seen something like that all through my years as a web designer. it is kool though but i think that it needs a more befitting navigation. what do you think Vacant?

Yeah there are some issuses with the lack of navigation on the pages...the idea is that its a sort of "popup" which you close to get back to the main menu. I was going to put navig on the other pages, but im not sure how i could do this. Also, im going to display my design on http://www.oswd.org/ (my names Vacant on there too :P)

15 <div>s actually, all fully CSS'ed up. I have now posted the design on http://www.oswd.org/ (an opensource web template site), its shot to number 7 in the "number of downloads per day" chart in just 3 hours  Yay Thanks for all the comments guys... I think ill just stick to creating designs rather than a website, as i wouldnt know what to put on it anyway... ;)

ps. the design is "deep" by "vacant" if anyone wants to download it...like that'd happen :P

It is cool. I like the idea. Maybe i use it for my own.I would not change the mouse pointer in the links and for the rest is ok. I think also that the navigagtion is ok. I do not think a navigation bar is needed. Remember that a site like yours (one root and 6 childs without succesors) can be usede easily without navigation bar. Knowing that the back button is the most used in a browser i do not think any user will need a nav bar in your site.
