Websiteowners, Fight Spam theres a new spamfighter in town

Recommended Posts

check this link:
http://english-29240131623.spampoison.com/

the idea is the folowing:
when a spiderrobot (a program used by spam-companies to search websites for emailaddresses. you might have noticed it once before: if you put your email address on a website, you'll get a lot more spam after a while, unless you masked it, like myname at domain dot com, but even those get detected sometimes) enters your site, this should be the first link it sees. you can make it invisible for the visitors of your site by putting nothing in between the <a ...> and </a>, the spiderrobot will still see it.
so the robot follows the link and gets stuck into this site, in an infinite loop.
meanwhile, the site keeps feeding it emailaddresses of spamcompanies.
so in the end, the spamcompanies keep sending spam to eachother, or they end up with huge lists with useless email addresses.

i'm pretty sure they'll find something, but meanwhile, it's worth trying.

god i hate spam :(

How do you know this site is for real - i.e. will stop spam harvesters ? Their code doesn't look anything much other than a LINK.

This in itself might be a SCAM... lol.. as in a desperate effort to increase their own page ranking by coaxing people to link to them. I think Project HoneyPot is far safer than this... Dunno, I don't believe them from the looks of it - till I read reviews about their authenticity elsewhere.

Hey I think m^e is right this does look like a SCAM. There is even a link in the bottom left corner that link back to this very topic here at Xisto. hmmmmIt reminds me of these junk mails that have a link to a removal page and all the link really does is confirm that the email address is active or has a recipient. Meaning more spam!I would like for us to move this topic and close asap to kill the link. What do you think m^e?

hey, it's not the link i posted you have to put on your site, it's the one that can be found on that site:
http://www1116072772523.bienal.com.br/
that's the one that's attached to their little logo you have to put on your site

you'll see a page filled with email-addresses, and some links too (they seem like the titles, but they are links: guestbook, forum, comments.
those leed you to simular pages filled with mail-addresses and again... some links to simular pages, which leed to other pages, etc...

and the link to the forum: they just kinda thank you because you link them. it's just the referring page. if you put the link on another page, you'll get that link instead, it's nothing special.

cheers

i'm pretty sure it works, unless those companies already have filters on those domains, which is quite probable

I think the reason why spams is so prevalent on the Internet is because it's easy to make it rich by spamming people with porn products and other products using email, a tool that's essentially free to use. That's why I appluad the move by big players like Yahoo and Microsoft with their new initiatives to make it expensive for email to be used to send spam.

This doesn't seem as effective as Project Honey Pot, which just won't deal bogus emails to spammer, but will actually gather information about them to give to the authorities.

That would be funny if all of the spam companies started sending spam each other. Even though I have never used either of these websites, I think I would rather use Project Honey Pot because of the responses in this thread. It's a great idea.- AlPal
