Frames Need help

Recommended Posts

You have to upload the frame content files as well, the index just has the layout. So if there is 2 frames page the content and the menuas well as the index.html you will have to upload the content.html and the menu.html (the names are what you have chosen of course).I would recommend not using frames unless completely nessarry

I'm confused to when reading your post. At least you could give us more information of your site. What files do you have and how the frames look like. To create a website with frames, you should have some ideas.

Framed pages are organised differently. In this case your index.html is where information of frames should be stored. There are a separated html file for each frame you have defined in index.html.

Let's say you have 2 frames (top and bottom) in you website. The top frame you want to put banner and menus... and the content will be displayed in the bottom one. So, at least you should have 3 html file:

- index.html

- banner.html

- content1.html, content2.html... so on...

Each menu item in the banner.html will point to relevant content in contentx.html.

I've just tried to give you some ideas before you can move on. However, tutorials of how to create websites with frames could be found anywhere. Following are some of them:

Did you use Frontpage or Dreamweaver or other HTML software to create your framed pages? If you did, it's may be easier to use your software's built-in FTP or uploading function so that everything neccessary in your framed pages are uploaded. I designed framed pages using Frontapge before, and it's publishing function was helpful.Try not to use frames though.
