Free Web Sites? READ THE FINE PRINT

When signing up for all those red-hot free web sites out there, be sure to read the user agreements, carefully. I know you're all sweet, gentle, wonderful people, but if some evil gremlin got into your code and uploaded something less than desireable to your web site, YOU COULD BE LIABLE FOR MORE THAN JUST HAVING YOUR SERVICE CANCELED. Here is a quote from the user agreement for the .TK free sites. "In addition to your indemnification obligations set forth in Section 14.2 herein, in the event we determine that you have violated any of the terms of this Agreement, you will be responsible to us for any and all costs incurred by us in enforcing the terms of this Section 11.4. you would have to do some really bad stuff to have them actually enforce that

those terms are simply to protect themselves from any extraordinary costs that were incurred as a result of abuse. IF they actually tried to prosecute or sue, it would not be worth their time or money.First, they would have to find out WHO the REAL person is. They'd have to dig through IP logs and then contact the ISP to release confidential information. So, they would probably need a warrant or something similar to obtain the information. NOT an easy task. Then there are the lawyers...

yeah i wonder how many times they actually sued someone. booting you off the site is most likely all that'd happen. plus wouldn't this go for paid hosts as well? say you or someone who hacks through you site ends up costing them a million bucks, they'd sue you too.
