Favicon (icon Before Url) Tells You How to make a Favicon.

You Know how some sites have Those Little Icons Before There Url?

 

Well I Am Going To Tell You How To Make One :-D

 

Step 1

 

You Need A 16*16 Image.. You Can Use One You Have Or Make One Of Your Own.

 

Step 2

 

Make The Image A Favicon. Click Here.

 

Step 3

 

After You Make The Image A .ico Put It In your "Home Folder" On your Website... The same Place as your Index.

 

Step 4

 

Then You Open Your Index.html... In A HTML Editor, And Insert This Code In Your <head> tags:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">

change The favicon.ico to The Name of the .ico File That you Made.

 

Then Save Your Page, And Preview It And There Should Be a Favicon Next to your Link.

but ie doesn't recognize the favico in all casesfor example. I i used the line: <link rel="....and in my avant browser works fine, but i can't see the icon in IE.. IE sucks!!!!

i works in some servers.. but not in all....for ex: it doesn't work on stand alone servers...and, although micro$oft sucks... i would want to change to another os, jeje ^_^

Firefox rules!!

 

This code works on both browsers. Just be sure to name your favicon name.ico NOT favicon.ico. <link href="http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/;rel="shortcut Icon"></head>The next question is how to get the favicon to show on this frame site in IE: http://ww2.johnwboyd.com/?folio=9POR7JU99
