Page Transtions

Recommended Posts

I am fairly new to web design, and I am trying to figure out how to change the way that a page transitions from one link to the next(aka home page to the links page). Suggestions?

page transitions are very annoying in my opinion...but here's how you'd do it anyways: <meta http-equiv="Page-Enter" content="blendTrans(Duration=5.0)"><meta http-equiv="Page-Exit" content="blendTrans(Duration=1.0)">stick that in the page you wanna have the transition. There are many types of transitions...one of which is the blendTrans(Duration=#) as shown above. Others would be revealTrans(Duration=# Transition=1), revealTrans(Duration=# Transition=2),revealTrans(Duration=# Transition=3),etc.And duration is how long the transition is going to last (please note, I'm not a hundred percent sure about all these because, again, I am not a fan of page transitions)

Thank you so much, I am finding great advice on the pages....

I suggest that instead of adding gimmicky type things like page transitions you should spend your time on things the surfers will want like your actual page content. I have always found page transitions to be very annoying and uneeded time waster. Unless your web page is simply to show off your web capabilities?

That's quite true, what keeps visitors coming back to your site is your content and not those fanciful gimmicks like page transitions and animated images and rollovers. Just think of it, how many of your favourite sites use page transitions?

Transitions are really bad to web design, in my opinion. Sure, they might look cool the first few times, but if it slows down the time it takes to get to the next page, it will most certianly annoy the heck out of your visitors. As for highlited links and stuff, those do help the site, but they don't waste time loading for the most part. What you really want is a good basic layout, helpful/appealing content, and ease of use, including speed.

I have to say folks that a thank you is in order for the valuble advice that you have shared with me... As of yet I am learning everything by putting it into practice on a myspace account... I know it isn't much but I would rather get it down someplace else then go through the effort of haveing a well thought through site to find that it was well thought through in the wrong direction...Greg

I strongly reccomend you dont use page transitions as they seem so FAKE. To me it makes a site look cheesy, wouldn't you prefer a nice sleek layout with a few nice animations? For example instead of using page transistions you could possibly try other effects like rollover images, I fell they look far more attractive.

yeah, transitions are very unreal, just like microsoft powerpoint. ^_^

but still, transitions are very nice if implemented in other media such as Flash and Gif. i know, for n00b transitions are great thing to learn, but it just not worth it.
