Pc Overboard

Recommended Posts

Sometimes I feel like starting a one woman campaigne against political correctness. Not a day goes by when some word or phrase we use is now found to be offensive to someone, and you can't tell a joke about any one or practicly any thing these days.

But the most recent round to hit has me absolutly furious! At a Rodeo at the Missouri State Fair, a bullfighter, Tuffy Gessling put on an Obamma mask and proceeded to make jokes about our commander in chief. Nothing even all that bad even. And for those of you that might think there is something racist or bad about this, please be aware, every president that we have ever had has been riduculed during rodeo proformances for the past 20 years. Bush, Reagan, Clinton have all took hits from the bulls. So why should Obummer be any different?

Obummer supporters have gone balistic over this one. The Missouri State fair board has banned Tuffy Gessling for life! This poor man has recieved numerous DEATH THREATS! He has been threatened with being run over, and they have even threatened to burn down his home! Over a frigging JOKE! Mad dog Obummer supporters are crazy, that's all there is to it. They are poor pathectic humans with no sense of humor whatsoever. How can telling a joke about someone, anyone make the person telling it deserve death? What kind of sick twisted logic is that? You can't call it being racist. Bush, Clinton and Regan are not black and you didn't see anyone complaining when they were made fun of. As a matter of fact, you should see the pictures that were made public by Machelle Malkin on her collection of top 10 Bush bashing pictures. (don't misunderstand, Malkin didn't make the pictures, she just saved them, want to be perfectly clear here.) Now if you want to see something that is not funny and I think offensive check these out. Certainly a far cry from a harmless joke at a rodeo

http://michellemalkin.com/2013/08/14/10-images-mocking-george-w-bush-that-were-far-worse-than-a-harmless-rodeo-clown/

And now the rodeo clowns are going to be required to take "sensitivity traing?" How absolutly insane is that? This men are out there risking their lives in what is probably the most dangerous profession in the world, trying to save the lives of cowboys who have fallen, or worse yet, got hung up in a bull rope and are about to get gored, stomped or killed by 1500 lbs or more of hamburger on the hoof. And they need to be trained to be sensitive?

Here are a couple more links to the whole story, and interviews with Tuffy.

I don't know about the rest of you but I am sick and tired of all this walking on egg shells being afraid of offending everyone. I say to hell with it. Lets not loose our sense of humors, lighten up a little and stop all this crazyness. You have a lot more fun in your life if you are not a tight *bottom* bitter prude. So, to start off my own personal war against PC, here is an Obama Joke! Don't threaten to kill me, just laugh and have a good day! :D

Pinocchio, Snow White, and Superman are out for a stroll in town one day. As they walk, they come across a sign: "Beauty
contest for the most beautiful woman in the world.

"I am entering" said Snow White. After half an hour she comes out and they ask her, "Well, how'd ya do?

"First Place ," said Snow White...and Pinocchio and Superman
congratulated Snow White.

They continue walking and they see a sign: "Contest for the strongest
man in the world." "I'm entering," says Superman.

After half an hour he returns and they ask him, "How did you make out?"
"First Place ," answers Superman. "Did you ever doubt?" Again,
congratulations from the other two.

They continue walking when they see a sign: "Contest! Who is the
greatest liar in the world?" Pinocchio says "this is mine"

Half an hour later, he returns with tears in his eyes. "What happened?"
asked Snow White and Superman.

"Who the hell is Obama?" asked Pinocchio

sorry sheepdog I don't get you American's and your president

American's overreact and can't take a joke, as for the issue at hand

well I think all heads of state deserve respect even the ones you can not stand

try living in Europe though some really weird names for heads of state and that's only the monarchs

I feel like I have insulted you and your people and have insulted some of Europe also (like the ones with monarchs with funny names)

To your post I feel that the joke has being taken out of it and people have just found something in it that was not in it like insult

who issues death threats over a joke and a mask where I come from that's called Halloween and a great big smack around the head for wearing the

wrong mask in the wrong area unless you do party of esteem and have one of your friends as the other leader just to even up things and you do it on the right day of the year of course.

sorry if my comment sounded insulting or went off topic.

No, I don't think you were insulting or anything like that at all. That's the beauty of this board, we all are able to express our opinions and discuse matters at hand. Sadly, there are way too many people who don't want to allow anyone else to have an opinion if it is one they do not agree with. Take the internet for example. Very few topic boards can have converstaions that don't end up in flame wars and people calling each other names and just getting downright nasty with each other. You should see some of the dog boards I have been on over the years, man, do they go nuts sometimes! And it just seems to get worse and worse all the time. You think because you are behind a computer screen you can say and do anything you want to, so the worst and most nasty side comes out of so many people. I've seen a few flame wars here, but not nearly as bad as other places. It all ends in people getting their feelings hurt and leaving the boards, then the quality of the exchanges goes down and eventually everyone suffers, it's just really stupid to take the entire world so seriously.

thank you sheepdog for not being insulted my comment was not meant to be insulting just telling the truth as I see it,

I only ever seen flame wars and people calling each other names and just getting downright nasty with each other on political boards though (Involving Ireland either north/south, Scotland, England or Great Britain, the United Kingdom, or Europe) not on this forum just yet on political forums the words can get really heated back and forward, I thought my comment would of had some effect on people who could not take a fair comment, but its great I just got the nice reply for the person I addressed it to instead of getting a flame war with a lot of members and not members who wanted to insult what I wrote just because they can not stand someone having an option.

sorry again for my comment sheepdog, and the Europeans (or at least the Ones with Monarchs with funny names) I was never trying to be insulting just putting in my 2 pence worth, btw sheepdog how r u doing you busy since summers over hope you are doing well and the business well hope everything Is doing well and the dogs.

If you think things get heated on a political board, you should see what happens on boards with dog breeders, or even worse, open dog breeder forums that animal rights wacko's can also post on! Breeders boards are bad, I've seen some real slug fests start over something as simple as the type of dog food you prefer. Those can get so heated I have reached the point that when a customer asks me what kind of dog food I recomend I will no longer name off a brand. I tell them only to read the ingredient label and know what is actually in the feed. I also mention that price is not an idication of quality. There are some high dollar feeds out there that will make dogs sick and starved for certain nutrients. I also will mention to NEVER get involved with fad diets for dogs. There is a dog food out now, Salmon and Sweet potatoes..Seriously, what dog eats salmon and sweet potatoes? Thats just goofy. And then there is the Humane Society's vegatiarian dog food. This one is a serious threat to the health and welfare of our canine friends.

Yes, very busy here. It's time to start fall grooming for the dogs, and I am now somewhat short on help, though I have some filling in and taking care of the daily routine we are not gaining any ground on major projects. Winter will be here too soon and a lot has to be done by then, because there are a lot of things you can't do in the winter, like painting dog houses for example. Only good thing about winter is that you don't have to mow grass.

the only food we feed the dogs we had is cheap dog food in a can can't remember what the name of it was it had a Labrador on the front that is all I remember except the last one who would have nothing but steaks, and high priced food, we had to get rid of her in the recession so my parents took her away and let her go on the street (sorry if that sounded wrong) but we could not afford her but last I heard she was in with another family and was last seen walking with another family which I am glad she was not destroyed, tell me about it sheepdog but good thing is I never had to mow the grass I get it done for me because its not my responsibility but its good I don't have to get it done in the winter. well sheepdog I have to go, thank you for answering my comment,

I still think political forums can be worst and news paper comments (well in the British Isles at least), I can not see how it can get bad discussing animals though unless you want to wear the animal (fur) or animal cruelty I don't know why it would be a problem what you feed a pet except feeding chocolate to dogs (worms) or feeding a pet to much food or to little, or poisoning a pet (either on purpose or otherwise) but maybe some people get out of control about animals on forums and animal rights groups can be over the top. flame wars can be started about anything when you get a certain amount of people who care about something and then more people come in (even ones who don't care about the matter) and have their turn, and so on and so on.

sorry if my comments have got longer lately, seems I have a lot to say, lol.

well the thing I hate about the winter is it gets dark to early.

Seems like the dog that you had was like a trophy wife. They have expensive tastes and they eat quite a bit into your finances till you finally decide that it just was not a match that was meant to be. This is like the dogs' world equivalent of Donald Trump and the other billionaires of the world. Finally, even when the dog was let go, it made it to an uptown neighbourhood with classy streets and greener pastures. I find the analogy quite amusing, although I'm the one imagining it :-)
A lot of people would probably criticize having to let go of the dog for not being able to afford it. It probably was for the best though because if the dog would have refused to eat whatever you were giving it, it would have starved itself anyway and would have been in a worse shape. Letting the dog loose onto the streets may have seemed cruel and it could have ended in worse ways, but it did not so perhaps the sequence of events was just meant to be and nothing could have changed it. If you hadn't let the dog go, it may have just gone missing one day and ended up in a different neighbourhood. If all the gates and windows were shut, it may have been involved in an alien abduction and the aliens would have returned it to that other neighbourhood, but the point is that if it was meant to be, it would be so in one way or another.

there is no such thing as class where I am from we got rid of the dog because we could not afford it and my da is the sort of people

who would give dogs any owl crap even if it was expensive the dog looked great I believe with a new family so it was the right idea to let the dog go.

I am from Northern Ireland we do not have class at least not like other places (for example India)

I was reading the other posts in this thread and was thinking about the flame wars that people usually have on the tech forums. Apple fan boys proclaim the supremacy of Apple's products and services. Most of the time, they try to make a point by mocking Windows - restarting after any update or software installation, the blue screen of death, and erratically changing estimates for how long copying, moving, or deleting a file would take. Windows supporters had their say too - Apple's operating system was only available with its hardware and it seemed overpriced compared to PC hardware. Also, there's much more software available for Windows than there is for Apple's Mac OS. While Microsoft did model some of the elements of the Windows user interface around Apple's design principles, Apple themselves seem to have gotten their user interface design philosophy from Xerox's operating system. There's no real trace of where Xerox got their ideas from, considering that there aren't any films that seem anything like the Minority Report equivalent of back then. Flame wars on forums were quite popular in the late 1990s and early to mid 2000s, but now moderators seem to keep it in check by locking such threads.

I suppose flame wars have started at one time or another on every single type of forum board there is in existence. If you started a group called "give peace a chance" somebody would start a fight on it! People are just mean! They feel like they can hide behind their computer screens and since they are anonymous they can do or say whatever they want to. Makes the chicken poops real brave. Common sense, common courtesy, and just plain decency have all gone down the toilet with the invention of the internet. They need have courtesy classes taught in school or something. Or preach the golden rule, Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. There is just no point to all this rudeness we see today. It serves no purpose, is detrimental to the health and wellbeing of everyone, including the person doing the bad mouthing, because some day they are going to say the wrong thing to the wrong person and get the holy living daylights beat of them.

well Humans always have to have their say no matter what the subject and people have different options

for example a forum about Obama some people would have to bring his colour into the subject then it would go back and forward

with what colour Obama is until the n word is used and then the whole forum would try other racist words (this is just an example and is not meant to be racist, or anything I have being involved in etc. and is not connected to this forum)

LOL, OMG..... Yes, without a doubt if you started a forum about Obama there would be flame wars to end all flame wars! Opinions on him run the full spector of human emotion. I was watching a video clip of him yesterday, there was a group of women standing behind him, the looks on their faces alone made me want to barf. They were all doe eyed and smiling and hanging on his every word and nodding in agreement with his every word, they were doing it in complete unison which made it look all the more freaky, it was obvious that they idolized the man. Honestly it looked like they were in complete ecstasy to be near him. Mesmerized by his mere presence. Personally I thought it was pretty disgusting. Makes me wonder what kind of men they have to go home to in order to be so raptured by Obama. Now there's a scary thought!

I do get more than annoyed though, with this "race card" garbage. It seems no matter what anyone says or does, if you disagree with Obama you are a racist. You can't possibly have a valid opposing opinion because he is black and if you don't agree with him you are racist. They have pulled this stupid stunt way too many times. I suppose it's the only trick they have left in the book to cover all the stupid and dangerous things this administration is doing to destroy our country.

well he has being in office for over 4 years so he must be doing something right, I prefer him than the last one (I will not go into what I think of bush).

the reason why people doe eyed and smiling and hanging on his every word and nodding in agreement with his every word, they were doing it in complete unison which made it look all the more freaky is because he is President of the United States and the women where prob Obama Supporters I would guess you don't like him very much it should not be racist to not like or question what he says if you do not agree with him.

well i hope you have a good night (its morning here but still night where you are)

Speaking about "giving peace a chance," ever since nine-eleven, whenever something would happen in another country, one of the first few comments would say, "Let's go and nuke them." ReddIt seems to have its way of regulating flame wars by preventing you from posting more than one comment in about five minutes. Most people find it irritating so I'm surprised to see so many people still using ReddIt. Typically, if you say something that is against popular opinion for a couple of weeks, your account gets disabled (they call it 'ghosting' - you don't realize that your account is deactivated because only you can see your posts). The idea of being able to rank posts helps in weeding out flame posts as well, with up-votes and down-votes, also referred to as post karma.
Speaking of karma, a lot of people tried to say that the occurrences of every day are the result of karma. People who believe in karma will tell you that when Sharon Stone said that the earthquake in China was the result of the collective karma of the people, the remark that she made was true. However, it is improper to blame the victims for what had happened as that results in negative karma as well, which is why she had responses from many others who boo-ed her for her comment. Some people also blame the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and nine-eleven on karma. Karma is something that people pick up over the day and can be positive or negative, and can be gained unintentionally. The positive and the negative karma do not cancel each other out - one has to live through experiences for both the positive and negative karma. For example, if you were to decide to do a good deed and help someone who has lost his or her car keys to open the door and you were to later discover that the person was a car thief, then that gets you negative karma as an accomplice to the theft despite wanting to do a good deed. Suppose you get somebody to fix your computer, and were happy with the service and pay a bonus. A week later, the computer locks you out saying that the software was pirated; using pirated software results in negative karma although you had no idea that the software was not legally acquired. In a similar manner, you may pick up positive karma without really knowing it.
