Do People Still Use

comp2

Do people still use ads for hosting services like biz.ly. I personally would rather pay out of pocket or put in the effort to use a post to host service like KnowlegeSutra. I mean the hosting panels for most of those companies are primitive and extremely limited. I personally do not use a webhosting company with out cPanel. I find the whether your a novice or a expert cPanel has what you are looking for. Feedback is welcome.

Well, I've never used anything but Xisto for web hosting, except the first few years I had a web site that was hosted by a friend so I'm not sure about the ones you are talking about. How do they work? Do you pay for your hosting by letting them put ads on your web site, something like what Google does with ad sense ads?

I asume by cpanel you mean control panels? (as you all know, I'm not real computer savy) So much of this jargon and abreviations go right over my head. Isn't the control panel for Xisto the spot we go to check the amount of our mycents and also to submit a ticket if something is wroung? or is there something else I'm not aware of? Afraid I might be missing something.

To answer these in the same order:

Some sites do allow you to get free hosting in return for letting them put ads on each page of your site. Before Xisto, that's what I was using. In fact, Xisto used to have the same opportunity if you didn't want to post for credits. I'm not sure if they still do or not though. Xisto is the old name for Xisto, in case you weren't here in the old days.

As for cPanel, it's one type of control panel. It's the thing we log into here at KS. There are many others though, some free and some not (like Plesk). They're all control panels, but each is different. I guess a way to relate it would be to say they're like operating systems; they can all do the same things (pretty much at least) but they feel different and have different steps.

I personally like cPanel the most, so I feel at home here!

Yes I know many people that are still using ads based free hosts but as you may know most of them are unreliable. The only reliable free host that I've found is Xisto. Others mostly delete your account duo to having small visitors and this rule is for those who provide the free host with ads. By the way some people that want to just start their web mastering life it is not very bad to start with one and then buy a host or come to Xisto after a month. But as I said most of them are unreliable and I only recommend here which is the best post to host on the internet.Of course cpanel is still the best panel for users, many panels are just trying to add cpanel features to their panels but they are still lacking many of them.

Website industry is growing rapidly .. .and free hosting is an area which really attracted some neat players letting users get Dashing Flash websites in matter of seconds and absolutely free

However, most of the free sites are automation-driven and hence, they all have some cons or the other. For eg. Integration of Payment Gateway or some neat eCommerce services with online Billing and Support. Things like these are not easy for even some of the very big companies.

we are focusing on making a site where people can choose template and get a pre-installed wordpress site loaded with some good theme and relevant modules Not just a free website but an entire set of applications/services packed into a free package.

We hope completing this project soon and launching it first in beta for our members.

This sounds awesome, although I don't quite follow. Would there be some sort of like, say design setups you choose from and then it would help set it up with what you wanted? Ex. showing an image of different module setups that you could use by default or something?

The post to host model has been dead or was dying back in 2010 and I doubt too many are still running. As for the free hosting itself, I would consider that dead thanks to social networking and websites like wordpress.com. Naturally, Xisto has suffered from the social networking craze and granted the free hosting for KS isn't what it use to be, but I suspect they are doing fairly well on the paying side.

I guess I'm just the odd man out. Given the choise between Xisto and Facebook, KS wins hands down. I personally don't see any benefits to facebook. There really is no way to have an informative website on FB, they tell you what information you can put up about yourself and that is pretty much limited to things I'd rather people didn't know about me to start with, lol, like my age for example. I have signed up for a few FB groups, as you might guess, dog groups, but surprise surprise, a chicken one too, and I read them maybe once a day, and sometimes I don't even read them at all. I just don't see people's fasination with FB. What am I missing?

Anyway, I'm certainly glad post to host is not completely dead and gone. I am at heart a cheap skate and would much rather put in a little work reading and writing posts than coughing up my hard earned cash for a web site.

some Host do still use Adds (or Banners) either for revenue or just to show off their hosting service to get more Users these adds or banners are normally at the bottom or the very top of peoples websites. ok for a new person to the website world or teens.

i use to have a few myself but i let them go along time ago.

NNNOOOOOO

I can name two sites right now that I believe are ad supported and I have an account on. But the first site I owned officially was through a P2H site. I had no ads; all I had to do was keep a positive points balance (much like KS here). Our limitation on it, though, was we had to be on a sub-domain of the hosting site. But I finally dished out 30-ish dollars and got top-level domain, paid hosting.
