A Nature Rambling

Recommended Posts

It's not really a poem, so I don't know what to call it, but it's about nature. Hope you enjoy! When I lie in the grass, as still as I can bear, I hear my heartbeat. The rustle of the trees only stirs me slightly, but I am filled with an inexplicable exhilaration at the shiver through the leaves. The tilt and sway of the trees around me soothes me more completely than the greatest composer ever could, yet the leaves make me feel a different euphoria. Though my sight is crippled, and I cannot see them, I can feel the fluttering of every leaf on every tree around me. Millions of them, glittering like paper-thin emeralds, overwhelm my emotion with a sense of my calm acceptance of an integration into nature. To meld into the trees, to dissapear a sea of a fresh, ever-moving green, to feel the individual movement of each and every one of them makes me feel both insignificant, but protected. It makes me realize how vast even the small stretch of land I am allowed to live in is.The intricacy of it all is truly lost upon me, and I cannot begin to fathom the quandary of nature I have been placed within. It is strange and occult to me, but I have never felt more understanding of being somewhere I truly belong in my life.It does bring forth a sense of cleanliness, and despite it's complexity, feels clean, innocent, and simple. A type of simplicity that I lost long ago as a child, and in the race of society, I forgot the blithe sense of wonderment I once knew. I enjoyed the world in a different way some time ago, and am ashamed of the carelessness present in my being responsible for my forgetful disregard of it.
