Google Rankings

Recommended Posts

I just got off the phone with a telemarketer, (from the UK no less, sure hate to have his phone bill) trying to sell me a service that would GUARANTEE supposedly that I would be ranked on the first page of Google for 5 different key phrases. He gave me the spiel about how many hits per day those phrases recieved, and that I only had to pay $45 per phrase, I would have my own technician who would moniter everything and I could change the phrases whenever I wanted to and no long term contract or anything like that. Sure, it all sounded great, but my question is, if they can do it, get me on page one of Google, why can't I get myself there? Just exactly what is it these companies do to get me to that number one page? My skeptical mind says it's just a con job and they really can't do it. But hey, somebody has to be on that first page, it sure would be nice if it was me!

You are right - someone has to be there for those specific keywords - might as well be you!I would just be cautious as to how they are building those links for you, are they manually submitting them or is it a software? How relevant are the sites that they are linking from? Are they spammy? If so, google hates that and will penalize you for it.Also, yes you can build them and probably do a better job yourself. That is how I first got started and it worked well for me, its a little time consuming but definitely worth the experience. Also, how competitive was the keyword? How much commercialism could you get out of them? How much traffic did each keyword get? So many questions to ask when entering a market...good luck!

I will recommend to stay away or Do Not use these Services with your Main - Website Domain. No one knows Google Algo. thats a fact and they change and evolve pretty fast... so its stupid to imagine a company @ $45 per phrase are going to keep up with Google and Give you ranking on #1 Page. a Ranking like "Jims Pizza at Walnut" is a different case... the competition is different. But just ranking "Pizza at Walnut" is a whole different story. Forget about "Pizza Delivery".Please make a Good Website and submit it to Google.com/addurl yourself. Add your Service to Google Locals and Google Maps. Create a Google Page and keep up with it. Exchange links with few good partners in your business.. or if possible - do a genuine press release and it will take care of most of outbound SEO :)As for Inbound SEO -if you have a (dynamic) CMS based website - get a SEO module that will do all the job for you.. while you simply write articles. If you have a (static) HTML website - you need to learn how to write articles (keeping SEO in mind - and give it to your Designer)
