I'm Thinking About Taking A Class..

Recommended Posts

Hey Loc,

Personally I don't think there is much of a point of taking a HTML class. HTML is a very simple language, it took me a day to learn the basics. Maybe if you are having trouble after learning on the interweb, maybe take a class then and explain your problem to the teacher. That would help. Like I said though, its so easy it would be better just to learn off the interweb in your spare time.

I didn't really had any formal lessons on HTML. I only followed tutorials already present in Dreamweaver. I did attend a whole day training at our school and that's when I truly learned bare HTML minus the WYSWYG of Dreamweaver and MSFrontpage. I still don't do my pages on notepad because I only know the basic stuff. :D

maybe this site might help https://www.wired.com/

i think html is something you just learn from using it, if you make enough websites or deal with them you will just eventually learn, when i first looked at the codes for html i thought it was giberish but i soon realized whats what after browing the net and looking for the scripts usage. so if you learn it the hard way i think it will stick in your head better than someone just telling you or just looking at a book. eventhough books sometimes help because you cant remember everything.

You don't actually need a formal lesson or school to learn HTML. HTML coding is very easy, tou could study it trhough books, buy a cheap one and you will learn it in a week. after few months you could master it. I started learning HTMLs using note pad (it was four years ago) it is just recently when i started using Microsoft Front page. If you already know the HTML coding you can then start using Frontpage or Dreamweaver, mastering html using notepad is important because there are few things you may not understand using frontpage. But if the lesson is for free, why not go for it. In a country like the Philippines you can't just find a job throgh experience. college degree and diploma are very important. that is why i am also looking for affordable short computer courses for diploma.

just like all the other people said, i dont think they'll be able to teach you much in higshchool class.

there are many sites in the internet that will teach you more then enough about html, one of them being the W3C ( world wide web consortium ) - http://www.w3.org/

if the class if for free, i'd take it, but don't expect to learn much from it ;P

the only way you'll really learn about it, is by using it A LOT.

If you're going to take a highschool course, you should probably take it in an actual programming language. Then you will not only know a programming language (!), but you can also put it in your resume if you want to pursue a career in computer science. <3 My nerd school and all its programming courses (what I can remember off the top of my head):Computer Science (Java--also required for graduation), AP Computer Science (more advanced Java), C/C++ Language, Assembly Language, Elements of Artificial Intelligence, High Performance and Supercomputing Applications, and a UNIX lab
