How Do I Shift My Wp Database From A Sub-domain To The Main Domain?

I've had some bad experiences trying to tinker with databases, that's why I decided to ask for some help before going off on my own this time! I'm running a wordpress blog on a sub-domain of my personal site (like http://www.blog.mysite.com/) and I put it there because I wasn't expecting any traffic at all and wanted the main domain (mysite.com) to hold a little info about myself. But to my surprise, my blog has begun to get some traffic and even quite a few comments, all thanks to one keyword that managed to get onto the first page on Google search! But as you can imagine, it will be difficult to get returning visitors with a sub-domain, so I want to move the blog to the main domain (which presently holds a Joomla database).Can someone give me a small step-by-step procedure to make this transfer? I think the first step will obviously be to remove the Joomla database and backup my WP database. After that what should I do????????

To get your blog onto a subdomain in the first place, I believe that you have to point the sub domain to a certain folder, which is, presumably from your post, your wordpress blog folder. Now, to get your blog to the main domain, all you have to do is the either remove the subdomain and make your wordpress blog folder the default index folder that your cPanel uses, or just point your main domain to that folder and make it the default index folder... it should be easy to do, though I don't have any experience yet... That's what I think you are meant to do... if this is wrong... well, then, maybe you should wait for a more advanced member to help you out with this... cheeras and good luck!!! i don't see that wordpress has any location-based databases, so it should be easyfirst, delete your joomla files and database (make back up, if you want to). then, move your wordpress files to your main domain. that should do the transfer :)second, redirect your http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ to https://www.salesforce.com/products/platform/overview/, if that doesn't do, do double check your wp-config.php files in your wordpress folder---edit---wait, i'll try it first lol

Well my friend that's just the theory and I figured that out myself - I have trouble with editing the databases - that's where I'm nervous to make a move without completely knowing what I'm doing - so basically I'm looking for a practical lesson

actually, i have just tried it (about 10 second before i post this message), i moved my wordpress from fougilang.byethost8.com to fougilang.byethost8.com/sweaty/ :(it just a "quick test-drive" wordpress thoughfirst, just move your wordpress files to the folder you like as mentioned beforesecond, go to phpmyadmin, open your wp_option table. you should see "siteurl" in the option_name column there (in mine, it is on the second). change your site url in the option_value to the current one

Well I am an idiot! I first decided to wait till I was sure of a clear answer from here, but then went on and messed up the settings Well it isn't an entire loss because I had an old backup so the blog survived, but some of the newer posts are missing now Anyway the deed's done now and I've got mixed results! I don't mind repeating it, but I am an idiot!
