[help]wordpress Permalink please come in

Hi everyone? i had a problem when i am trying to change my permalink into my settings im trying to make it as

/%postname%/

but i always got an error saying that i should update my .htaccess file.. i tried to find where it is. i also looked into my wordpress files but i can't seem to find it? can you please tell me where i can find the .htaccess im using wordpress 2.8+ please i need this in order to change my permalink because i know it would help me a lot in SEO isn't it?is there a way i can make my own .htaccess file? how? can you please post in here step by step so that i can be able to create my own .htaccess thanks

The .htaccess file is in the root directory of your Wordpress installation (the same folder that contains wp-config.php). You will need to make sure you can see hidden files and folders before it will appear. If there isn't a file there then all you need to do is create it and copy the code in that Wordpress gives you - simple as that! It's just a plain text file, nothing particularly special about it. You can create and edit it in any text editor.

yup i used the file manager of the cpanel and used to see it and solve already the problem anyway thanks for the concern and thanks for replying into this topic you know i am very happy to see someone like you replying into my useless topic anyway maybe someone will need this topic so please don't delete it

for others who will experience the same problem as me the .htaccess file is in the root directory where the index.php is located also if you can't see it you should optimize the settings of your FTP manager and able to view the hidden files.. me i do it in a hard way.. i access my files using the file manager of the cpanel

and to change the permalink change the attribute of the .htaccess good luck guys hope you will have a nice blog
