Your First Web Site ? ...when, how, where...

Recommended Posts

When did you make your first Web Site? What was it about? Why did you make it? What did it look like?Well, my first Website was about my club. It was fans-like site and there actually wasn't anything good on it :P I made it using Tripod's Site Builder and the whole interafce was with some green and black colors. From this point of view it was UGLY, UGLY, UGLY B)I made it just because "I wanted to have my own WebSite" :D Few months later i put some content on it and a whole "new" template...Then i started with FPage... later came Dreamweaver and Adobe PS... And now I'm learning Flash ActionScripts and MySQL...This was 2-3 years ago... Time flyes...

my first website was over 10 years ago and it looked good to me but by todays standards it would be very crappy. Back then there was very little the web had to offer in terms of visual appeal. Most of the "flashy" graphics had to be animated gifs. There was no flash, no CSS, no DHTML... also, everything was done in text editors like notepad. there was no WYSIWYG editors... well there were a few but they worked like *BLEEP*.It was fun making a website because back then there wasn't much on the internet... Google didn't even exist.. I was using Infoseek as my main search engine. Yahoo sucked, and microsoft still had some competition...

I made my first website a year ago called PlayGames. It was a gaming information site that wasnt very pretty because I was just learning HTML but it was playgames.250free.com and it got very popular and had almoust full google page rank thanks to 250free.com's free auto search engine submitter. But then I shut it down for my own reasons and I just use it for personal image hosting and stuff like that now. :P

My first website was a website for my city. It was a website for the students who go to my school. It was pretty good for a beginner I must say. I had about 400 members in it. Ranging from sixth graders to seniors. It was awesome and when I came into highschool I knew everyone cause everyone was a member of my site. It was made with MSN Groups.. freakin easiest simplest best free community web thingy back in the day. I dunno about know. They didn't even support all the html back then.. I don't think so now either. Every layout was just html tables with backgrounds and a pretty logo. lol No fancy stuff. Had like four images on each page and text for the rest... I remember when someone asked me if I knew java. I was like, coffee? ah, those were the days..

My first website was on AOL Hometown...mwahaha. It had baseball records, which I copied out of a little book I had gotten for Christmas or something...Goodness gracious, how silly of me. I must've been 8 or 9 years old, I think. No experience with HTML, no way of comprehending FTP, no nada. Sad, sad times those were.

My first website was made like 4 years ago, and it was really... REALLY bad. Even though at the time I probably thought it rocked lol it was made on expage.com which is like the most easiest website server to build on because it does pretty much everything for you all you have to do is type the text in where you want it. My first website probably just consisted on a few images, a blog and shoutouts and a guestbook.

Haha...my first website was on Geocities, and I forget what it was about. Probably something random that I was really interested in at the time, or some sort of general bloggish thing. I dunno, the only time I edited it was probably that day that it was created...since then I've made more of those random type sites, but now I plan to make one that's actually good and that I'll actually update.

My first website was on Geocities... three years and a few months ago. It was before I knew HTML, of course, so made it with the PageBuilder. It was a Roswell (my favorite show) fan site. Black silk background, a picture of Max, Isabel, and Michael in the middle, and red text on the sides. I had all the back blurbs from the books on one of the pages... I didn't know much about graphics at the time either, so the ROSWELL header was just text in that font.

I did not make the website alone. You see there were 2 of us that teamed up. This site has been up for about 5 months now. It is a golf handicap system. My friend likes golf so that is where the idea came from. We knew zero about making a website 7-8 months ago. Want to see how it looks, go here

My first website, under tons of different names, was created on Angelfire around May 1996. I originally called it Queen Alissa's Castle in the Labyrinth after the main character in many of my written fanfictions, and later called it Crystal's Mystic World of Fanfiction. I think it originally had memberships I was a part of, fanfiction I liked, and, I think, some Buffy pics that I liked a lot. If I remember correctly, (remember, this is nine years ago, and light-years in experience from where I am now), I had different backgrounds on each page, and big *bottom* fonts for headers. :P;) I had no idea what the heck I was doing back then, and alternately cringe and laugh when I look at what I was doing back then and how I'm doing now. lol

refering to first website,i think that i am not good at this, web designing at first.i made earlier page only by notepad to edit html code, :D because there was no visable or translated web designing software in my country.hehe...it was too hard to write lots of html code.umm,so i desert to try it.few years ago,i realized Microsoft frontpage and Macromedia Dreamweaver which both are conveniet tools for web.given that busy in school,i could not have much time on web designing, only by a little interesting...so i did it again.like all of you here,no one tough me about it and i learnt it on my own.however my website looked too common ;) ,i will try my best to this.certainlly,a website need domin name and space,so i search all of chinese web company who work on web hosting space management.after searching, too disappoint to me. :D ..that civil web company offered a little space to build your website, meanwhile need money, not free.even if there is several free web hosting company, they put a lot of danm, rubbish ads to you site, which looked not very good.luckly :P ,there was certain chance that made me realize Xisto.com.thank to Xisto,i could achieve my website plan then i created a forum to get in touch with some good friends, chatting and discusing here delightly... :D

My first website was on Geocities. >_< I made it with a friend and it was about the games Catz 3-4 and Dogz 3 (by PFMagic). It seemed pretty good back then but looking on it now I cringe at the thought of using Geocities, what with their 12kb of bandwidth and bad "site creation utility." Personally I hate WYSIWYG editors because I'm kind of an elitist, and because basic HTML is really easy to learn
