A very popular one, which registers about 70% of all the United States Domain is called NetworkSolutions @ http://www.networksolutions.com/. They offer domain registration for roughly * dollars, Another popular domain risgter is go daddy @https://de.godaddy.com/. They are currently offering domain regitration for 3.95 per/year, and lastly you can go to register.com @ http://www.register.com/, which also gives out resonable prices for registering. rejected 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2005 For my old domain, I used godaddy.com which worked great, my site was never down.My mother used to be a website designer, and she used networksolutions.com, and her site went down a lot, like 5 days a month. byrdhouse 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2005 Yeah, I also use https://de.godaddy.com/. I've pretty much have stuck with them from the beginning and have never had any trouble with them. The downtime is because your webhosting account is down but not your domain name. Maybe you are saying that you have a domain name registered and hosted at http://www.networksolutions.com/ and the server is down very often. SAC If you want to buy a domain name with hosting,I would suggest you to get it from 9cubehosting.com at low price.It is Linux based web hosting.They provide good service with reliability. k_nitin_r 8 Report post Posted October 24, 2013 I just wanted to mention that I found the web hosting at Xisto better than the one at GoDaddy. A common issue with GoDaddy is that the database gets really slow on the shared web hosting packages. 1&1 offers pretty good web hosting packages, but the SMTP email server (the server that is used for sending out email) sometimes goes offline and the mail is not delivered. With Xisto, I have never really had any problems with the web hosting. The only issue is with a downtime of 2 days in a while year, which is reasonable for the price paid, and some follow-up during domain renewal. Even the bigger web hosts have down time so it is no biggie and you always get a response to the support tickets within 24 hours. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

We have TWC and are paying for custom internet service and our IPA hasn't changed ever, as far as I am aware. And ashiezai is correct. Downtime is dependent on the host, not the registrar. Both of my domains are through namecheap. I would have went through godaddy, but I heard that they tend to screw people over who want to transfer to someone else. Some people have dynamic IP addresses that only change when they disconnect and reconnect to the Internet but mine seems to change every few hours so I cannot count on the IP address remaining constant. Typically, a DHCP server would attempt to provide a DHCP client with the same IP address, so I am guessing that they intentionally got it to ignore the previous IP address and issue a new IP address to prevent businesses from using the service and taking advantage of the lower pricing that is only offered to residential customers. For most people who do not have a static IP address, a shared web hosting plan is cheaper than getting a static IP address because the costs are quite minimal. There are web hosting plans for as little as fifty cents a month, though the reliability of the web hosting service and the sustainability of the web hosting service provider would be questionable. I used NameCheap for domain registrations and their API is quite simple to use too. I have not tried switching between registrars, but the charges seemed pretty fair, plus they have a coupon that you can use for registrations to get a discount and would be useful if you were to make many purchases.
