New Websites Discovered...

Recommended Posts

For the past few weeks i have been sending some links to all my contacts. Have also got some feedback from very few online active people... so...i thought i would add these links in the here too..

Search Engine

Try this new search engine powered by Yahoo.

The results are good.. (i have been using this for past 1 month).

http://search.yahoo.com/

Its really fast and gives suggestions (this suggestion feature is already available in google suggest... but very few people are using, rather they prefer Google in general.)

Definition Engine

Here is another provider who says "Find meaning, not just links."

http://www.metaglossary.com/

Its pretty interesting and behaves like a comprehensive dictionary... you have something, they have definitions for that.

The results were good. It scrolls through many sites in the web and looks for definitions. Also it shows more than one definition for every search string given....so it will fit all your needs.

Also MetaGlossary organizes these meanings based on topics and usage, so you'll find the one you're looking for quickly and easily. Since MetaGlossary spans the expanse of the web, even your most field-specific requests for terms, phrases, acronyms, technical jargon, and slang, will be successfully met.

If you are a frequent writer this is the link that you should bookmark first.

Notice from rvalkass:

Remember, anything you copy (even if it's yours) needs to be in QUOTE tags.

"Publish Yourself Online"

This is what their tag line is... and they have kept up their promise.
upload all your documents(files) ...major .doc, .xls, .ppt, .pdf.

https://www.scribd.com/

This is more like an online storage space, but its a bit different in the sense you will be able to make your files public and share it with others. Also your friends and public need not download the files to view ... they are usable online itself and thats not all ratings are also there. There are also communities where you can upload and share among groups.

Also sending a particular file thats interesting to you to your friends is so easy... they have provide option for importing mail ID's from major providers like gmail, yahoo and hotmail.... so sharing can be done on the fly.

For more about scribd, do visit their blog.

Have you been searching for some free and opensource tools....for your mac system.

I have found one recently.

http://opensourcemac.org/

All necessary tools from A-Z are available for download...

whats the catch? they are all free and open.

About the website

Open Source Mac is a simple list of the best free and open source software for Mac OS X. We aren't trying to be a comprehensive listing of every open-source mac app, instead we want to showcase the best, most important, and easiest to use. This page should be a handy reference and a useful tool for getting more people to start using free and open-source software. If you think we're missing any great apps, please let us know.

Also all softwares are categorized accordingly. I don think they have missed any category... if at all you see something missing do let us know.

How many times have you wondered, you that guy checking me out or did I spill something on my shirt? WereYouDiggingMe.com was created because of a similar situation. The creators of WereYouDiggingMe.com were debating whether or not a girl was digging on their friend, now unless you are fearless, the reality of this situation is difficult to discover. Very few people march up to the opposite party and ask Are you digging me?. So at WereYouDiggingMe.com from the security of your computer you can do just this. WereYouDiggingMe.com lets you create a profile with a photo, then you can search through diggs and if you see someone you like, let them know you dig them. They will either confirm the connection or ignore it. WereYouDiggingMe.com sets up other ways for you to meet people. When you sign up you fill out personal information such as your name, gender, gender you dig, where you live, birthday, etc.. You also need to write the phone numbers of ten friends, preferable friends that are users of WereYouDiggingMe.com. This helps realize possible connections, friends, of friends, of friends that you may digg. WereYouDiggingMe.com has many tools to help you find out if your dig is digging you or to find a new dig. You can add a digg which is when you post details about when and where you saw someone you digged. Then there is a chance that that person could find that digg and possible be attracted to you. WereYouDiggingMe.com is a dating site that helps you find that person you are digging, dont waste time sign up and see if he/she really diggs you.

The above is the description given to the new dating site... that says that they do things differently. So why dont you give a try if you really want to get a better date. :P. The interface and look and feel of the website is good.

Below is the website link. Enjoy !!!.

There is a new site (i stumbled upon...) that promises to help users remember all of the things they seem to forget. Do you ever see something you want to research later but always forget to, the newest technology, a new play, anything. I am one of the members who often fall under this category as i spend so much time online, i forget what i do mos of the time. Now you can text yourself reminders from your cell phone so that later you can do these things. Using Kwiry is simple, next time you are out and see something you would like to do later simply send yourself a reminding text by texting a message to 59470 (The message centre of kwiry where the actual text will be forwarded...) or send it to your email XXX@kwiry.com. Though i have not given a try personally, i believe from the reviews that they must be good.... They promise to do so... Later when you check your email or go to Kwiry.com you will see your reminder text and be able to follow up on it.

They also have options to make submissions public or private. Public submissions will be shared with the everyone in the community. The site also has many fun features such as; adding friends, bookmarking searches, organizing kwirys into folders and categories, listings of recent kwiry?s, linking kwiry?s to social networks and sites, such as facebook and other social contact websites. When you go to your homepage you can see public recently posted kwirys, and friends who recently submitted. I would definitely recommend this website and i believe many will find some use for this...

Give a try definitely... Post your reviews.... That will help others decide whether to use or not to...

Below is the link to their website....

What do they promise

?How often do you watch TV, read a magazine, talk to friends or see a billboard and think, "I should check that out" or "I should e-mail that to a friend"? If you are anything like us, it happens all the time. After writing web addresses on our hands, ripping pages out of magazines we didn't own, or simply forgetting, we decided there had to be a better way - a way to remember something before we forgot it. So we quit our jobs and created kwiry.

kwiry is a free service that turns text messages into reminders you retrieve online. When you text a reminder (a product to buy, movie trailer to watch, bill to pay, etc.) to 59479 (kwiry) we store it on our website. The next time you're online you can log in to kwiry.com to manage your reminders, see search results for each one, and easily share with friends. See it. Text it. Get it.?
