Preview Your Website In Ie From Non-windows Os

If you are using a non-windows based OS probably Linux or Mac OS may be even Solaris or OS/2, you can preview how you website or new site design looks in Internet Explorer.

A site by Daniel Vine provides you this facility for free,

Just head over to https://www.url2png.com/?via=iecapture and enter your sites URL to preview.

This site will automatically create a screen shot of your site how it appears in IE. Usually it will take longer to get a screenshot because always there will be thousands of such sites queued to be previewed.

Hmm thats a long wait time, especially if you are doing it for website testing. You might have to go back and change one little thing and start all over again...

Yeah I have the same problem it is just to long. And in the end users should use firefox or any other browser standardized. To current rules of w3.

But how I can do vise - versa. I don't have Mac Os or Solaris. I mean is there any software that enables to view websites in windows OS as in non-windows.

I'll answer to my question myself.

While surfung internet I have found very interesting site(for webmasters ofcause) :

http://browsershots.org/.

How it works, just type web address (starting with http://) of your site and click start. Then in next page "Select browsers and configuration" and submit.

Note: Input maximum time for wait.

It is free of charge. but in future it can be paid service.

Install a virtual machine on your computer and install windows on it. If you are using Linux, they all have virtualization applications. These may not be the fastest but to refresh a web page once the virtual machine is open and booted, will not take more than a few seconds. This beats 2 days waiting just for a screen shot.

Yes this is cool thing I was just watching at my friend how does this thing looks it is really nice. ANd works pretty well also on old machines and slow computers. He was running linux and had xp in virtual machine it is just great to have this work out in this way. I think I will try it also somedays.

Yes I do suppose that the wait is quite a long time, but I still find it to be a nice feature! I like to know how other people in different browsers view my website. I know that some browsers may mess up the layout of a website, causing the font or overall template to increase in size or decrease. The best thing to do in that situation is either find the median of the two browsers (yours and your viewer's) or simply let them know that it is best viewed under "such and such" conditions. I know that is what a lot of sites do when guests to the website complain about the look of it. I have not had that complaint myself but then again I don't get many guests! Haha. But thank you for showing me this, I had no idea that this was out there. I'm sure that once I get the screenshot I will be happy, hopfully. I am hoping that my IE viewers like my website as my Firefox ones. Thank you! -Jester
