Need Opinions On New Home Page!

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I've always gotten great support from everyone here with my website, Plug Computers and was looking for some input:

Our current homepage is quite boring in my opinion. It seems that people are being turned away due to the fact of the boringness of the page. haha. So I recently created http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ to replace to homepage, not all the links are up and running yet, but let me know what you think of this page as a homepage.

I wanted to get the computer details out there right away, rather than requiring a visitor to click through a few pages to get to our available systems. I'm hoping that if they see them right off the bat they are more likely to consider customizing a computer with Plug.

Let me know what you think of the "index2" page. Thanks.

I really like it; The blue goes great with the black. The only thing I can suggest would be to make the content a little bit wider if at all possible. But other than that, it's great. ;) I do agree with you, having the computers and offers on the very first page is very attractive, it caught my attention. xD I may even look into buying a computer from there. Yea I was considering making the whole thing a little wider, but then I'd have to stretch the header and such, and dont know if I want to get into that really. Haha. Try clicking on the "Intel VALUE" system and let me know what you think of that page, where i have the table comparing our system to Dell and Alienware...

I agree the computers and the colors spruce it up a bit and agree the home page at least needs to be spread out, but when listing the computers the skinning version will look good.

Nice, the individual listings are very well done. They contain a lot of information but are not crazy jam-packed. What program do you use to program your site with? Notepad? I've been looking for a good program to use, but haven't found a nice one yet.

I use a combination of Dreamweaver and just basic notepad to do most of my coding. If I'm doing something that I'm not really familiar with I may use dreamweaver, but its mostly notepad for me. Thanks for the input folks.

I think he made it his real homepage, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ shows a page like what JDameron described (black and blue, a little narrow, computers on the front, it's not boring).

Assuming that is the page you're talking about, it's nice. The only thing I can think of is the space in between lines on the top image and maybe the width (or lack of width), maybe a favicon would add to it.

I was not able to see your "index2" page. Maybe i am too late onto this. I got a look at your home page instead. One suggestion i could immediately offer is, try changing the background colour. I guess, white would be more professional. The way the content is displayed was great. I like the idea of having a preview of your computers on the home page. Also try changing the font face of your text. Apart from that, your site looks pretty good.

Hey all, Yes, the index2.html page no longer exists, as I'm sure you figured out. But you are correct, that got changed to the new index page. So you can see the current design at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
Within the next week or so there will be a new layout with 2 additional systems. We are adding an Intel and AMD Budget systems that start around $650 and they will be featured on the homepage. I'll let everyone know when that is up, but anything else I should consider when we're changing the page around?
