The Do's And Don'ts Of Web Designing

Recommended Posts

The art of Designing websites has gone very popular and you can find everybody with a little basic knowledge about how websites work or HTML creating their own websites.

But do we consider what we should follow and what we shouldn't. I've found a website that describes about the do's and don't s of Web Designing.

This will be very useful to all web designers and add extra glow to your website.

8. Flash intros: I am guilty of this as much as the next guy. A few years back Flash intros where all the rage, not sure if anyone knew why we ‘needed’ them, but as it turns out the ‘skip intro’ button is the 2nd most clicked on the web today. Don’t waste your time on Flash intros and in my opinion Flash should be only used in special situations.

Someone who thinks like me, i think flash intros and flash websites are the most annoying things ever! there are a few good flash websites out there but most of the time i hate them! Every film that comes out seems it must have a flash based website, why?! they take ages to load they look bad, they sound bad, they act bad in terms of navigation, they're always dark and half the time you need this or that plugin anyway! Just stick with HTML!!!

A useful guide for anyone creating a website, especially anyone creating a professional website.

EDIT: it does seem that marquee text does work in FF2, something i never knew, i also thought it only worked in IE as it was basically made by and for IE, there ya go! something new everyday!

I agree with the blinking text and buttons and stuff. ( It makes me mad to see sites like that. )I am not sure about the counter though, ( Can someone tell me about a counter that is only for you like is not displayed on any of the pages but you can still figure out how many people have visited? )

Re: blinking text...Until a few days ago, I would have been convinced that nobody - and I mean nobody - uses the BLINK tags anymore. Then I found a site that does. I left quickly - that blinking is just as annoying to me today as it was back in '95 :P

You can use Google Analytics, just embed the code in all the page that you want to track and you can check the detailed statistics from your Google Analytics account.

If a flash intro or header is put in the right place and isn't loud and flashy it can turn a website into something great. Even something as small as a flash sideshow can do the trick.

2. Forget blinking or flashing text:

I couldn't agree more they are horrible and anyone currently doing this should have their site taken down immediately!

9. Under construction pages:

NEVER NEVER EVER do that even if you feel you must you should never get hosting or a domain untill you are sure your site has been completed.
