Nasa Found Life On Mars But Killed It!

I just found in CNN and thought of writing this post.

A scientist is theorizing that the Two NASA space probes that landed on Mars, the red planet, 30 years ago and may have found alien microbes on the Red Planet and inadvertently killed them!

Since they were looking for the wrong kind of life the Viking space probes of 1976-77 ,so they didnt recognize it, a geology professor at Washington State University said.

Based on research that where life can take root, it may prompt NASA to search for a different type of Martian life when its next spacecraft to visit Mars will be launched later this year, one of the space agencys top scientists said.

 

In the 1970s, the Viking mission found no signs of life.But the microbe was looking for Earth-like life, in which salt water is the internal liquid of living cells.

 

The experiments of the Viking which took place in 1970s wouldnt have noticed hydrogen peroxide-based life and, in fact, would have killed it by drowning and overheating the microbes, said Schulze-Makuch.

 

It is also said that one Viking experiment seeking life on Mars poured some water on land of mars. That would have essentially drowned hydrogen peroxide-based life, he said. And different experiment heated the soil to see if something would happen which would have baked Martian microbes.

What if Nasa brings some samples of those microbes and then they turn out to be some type of virus that ends up being lethat to humans? That would be really messed up

well, if it's found on one area, it could also be found in other areas. so i don't necessarily think they killed all the specimen. they killed some in the area, but if that organism has been thriving in there for years, then most probably they've already multiplied, enough for it to have a colony or something.

I would like to see them but...your right, that's very dangerous...

well...that sucks if they killed the organisms by accident, but they didn't know...cant exactly blame them..at least now they know, and they can conduct more relevant tests that won't harm the potential types of organisms on mars =D

I would just leave this up to god. Like he is the one with all the secrets. I hope i get to solve the mystery in my lifetime.

If there is hydrogen-peroxide microbes on mars we could have killed them. There's still no slightest amount of evidence that there are microbes. And if we did kill them, then there's gotta be more on the planet somewhere.It's a pointless article; doesn't tell us anything.

I'm sure if NASA found life on Mars (which I'm sure there is) they wouldn't tell us at all. Why tell us anyway? The president will give orders to keep their mouths shut. Remember Roswell? Example: The press are told by officials that there is in fact life on Mars and then the next day they appologise and say it was fungus from before the probe left Earth. Typical.

A quote from Star Trek comes to mind, "It's life Jim, but not as we know it." Why do we assume that life on other planets has to be similar to ours? I guess because that's all we can understand. This is a totally different planet with possibly a totally different evolution process. Being the atmosphere is so different to ours, isn't it likely that life there, if any, would be very different to ours? For life to exist anywhere it must adapt to its environment, who knows how these adaptations affect the resulting life forms? It seems our supposedly most intelligent scientists don't.I hold the belief that there is indeed life on many of the planets within our universe, just that we can't understand it. Unfortunately, lack of understanding can cause accidents as has happened here.

well not really. gender-wise, only men do that. it's in their nature. women, on the other hand are nurturers, life-protectors and life-creators. but of course i won't go talking about feminism to you.

well if NASA did publish a news article like that, then most probably it is true. although i believe that the original poster of this thread probably misinterpreted some information.

I'd say that this is entirely insane, It not proved that there is life in mars. I've a scientific proof for this, but I cannot share as I got it by illegal means.

WHy would they tell us soemthing like that? They tell us that millions of people wqere killed in IRaq. They tell us that a mother was shot point blank. They tell us that a little girl was raped, but they wont tell us that there is life on MArs? Thats Purely BULL *BLEEP* (SORRY FO CUSSING) and would never happen. In this society too much is said, and why would they hid something like that? Purely Non-Sense!

maybe they have messed up the environment of the life there and now they are all dead... malbe humans are dangerous to them but we dont know why. it could also be that they keep on living as if ther didnt happen anything but i dont think its an good idea to bring some of thise "things" back to earth... they should be researched on a base on mars or around it - or on the moon so we can assure that they do not harm the earth environment (not only the humans) because we destroyed enaugh so we should take more care
