Anyone Wanna Look Over My Site? Just finished the bulk of my site, tips?

Recommended Posts

I have just pretty much finished the bulk of my site... that is i've uploaded most of the pages and updated/edited them until they look okay. I still need some tips on design etc. all the styling is done in the HTML document and i haven't used CSS, although am considering doing so; if i did, what designs would i use? i'm just generally looking for some design tips for my site. So feel free to explore my site. feedback is much appreciated. :)

NB: My friend Robbie's pages are still in development.

You definitely need a desing. The blue color goes fine with your site, but you need to organize your categories into blocks or something. You can put the Go to: navigation at the left, under that put something that your visitors would look at, like your favorite websites links or something, and put some welcome message and your News in the rest of the right space. Also, well, i dont know, remove the links bar of the top and put it on the bottom, and instead put there your site name or your logo. For your desing use the Divboxes (i think thats the name.. ) that would have a gray color base, that would look good with your blue background.just my opinion.good luck

I echo what Migue2k7 says. You need a design, sorry for being direct. But what I see in your page are simply text, images and links. Those alone are definitely not going to attract many visitors to your site, unless your site is an informative one, otherwise I don't think many visitors will come. A page with only links in the middle, it lacks something, try what Migue2k7 said, add some news, welcome message, animated graphics or anything like that around the website. It is far too empty, it is like a hot dog bun with only 1/8 of a hotdog. I would reocommend you to use Adobe Photoshop, conjure up some interesting designs which you like, maybe something you can relate to, yourself, your favourite artiste, try to find a theme for your site and get its identity.

Just like the previous 2 people have said, you site is very basic if not worse than that (sorry to be blunt). Search the web for a site that you like the layout for and start trying to mimic it using your own color scheme and your personal flavor. If you need help with any of it post here in the forum and im sure that numerous of us would be willing to help. Like darren said, the easiest way to make the design will be using either photoshop or the gimp depending on your preference / cost. Use the site you found that you like and duplicate it with this software, splice it and then you are ready to go.

I think the same as the three people that answered you before. Starting from the beginning, you cannot make a site and put some minibanners on top. Do you want people visit your contents or you prefer them visiting hackthisite and firefox ones? In that place you should put a big banner of yourself, the title with the logo, etc. Every website is usually like that. You can either put those links at the bottom, left, right... even in a link dedicated page of your web, but not on top. Then definitely you should write an introduction of the site in the middle instead of than putting those four links that could be conveniently in a left box. Look for example hackthisite and you?ll see what I mean. Banner, introduction, links to own site on the left, links to partners down, etc.
