Is There A Scipt That Blocks Profanity In A Post?

Recommended Posts

I am goign to start a dynamic site most likly a small blogging site. I was wondering if there was any code that prevented people form typing in certain words? I do not want people to get carried away becuase a lot of people are goign to be usign the site. When peopel see a lot of profanity they exit the page and I do not want that ti happen. Ideally this would be a post like this psot where you would prevent certain words to show up in the post or there would be a warning box that would come up and say you need to modify post becuase of profanity. Is this even possible?

Most Forums and CMS 's today have a 'word censor' built in to them which gives you a list of un-acceptable words and their replacement values.Phpbb, IBP all have the script. It is done using sub-string replacement. Simple enough to figure out. Perform the replacement before the information id stored in the file or database, about the same time as you do a strip_slashes or html_entity check.

Like jlhaslip has told you most forums and CMS have a profanity filter. I know Invision Power Board allows you to choose which words you want to be filtered and you can add on at any time. After doing a little search I found a tutorial on how to make on yourself.

I am not sure if this is will fit in with what you are trying to do but hopefully it can help point you in the right direction.

Yes, there must be a script that can block profanity in a post. But I don't know what it is.... so sorry... and I know it's probably unlikely, but see if you can use HTML or PHP or some other code to block profanity in a post. It is good however, that you want to do this.
