Want A Internet Radio Station For Free

Hey, I know a website that lets you broadcast free radio station..I've been using it for 2 years and its awesome..iT's http://www.flatcast.com/ but when you type url into the browser you have to put wwwhope you enjoy it...

Wow that is pretty cool. I might have to look into it for when i go on vacation and want to listen to tunes on a friends computer or even if i want to rock on to my own music at work. Thanks dude for the cool check site.

Very interesting site. I do a TV show where I'm the producer and host for my college TV station. I've been looking to do some radio but don't have enough time to fit it into my schedule for the colleges radio station. This is definitely a tight site. Thanks for the link.

You could always start your own radio stationm from scratch. Im looking into just that as then you can set everything up your own way meaning that you can set your own songs and playlists ads ect. The only cut back there is that you have to set up an internet radio licence which can be time consuming but it is well worth it. But yeh if you do not have time to set that up you can use a site like flatcast.com as all the important stuff is taken care of alredy.

I used to run a Shoutcast server for a few friends, it was pretty good, but it took a lot of work to set it up. I think im going to try that link Thanks!

This is not directly relavent to the topic.I just want to tell you about music.aol.comIt's offer radio streaming for free.So many stations to choose from and it's so easy to use.About the radio on website for free, I'd prefer adding individual song code.I can choose the songs I want for my page.Many websites offer this service for free.

Is that really free. That is soooo awesome. I am defintely going to look into that because it would be the coolest thing ever if I could be broacasting my own Internet radio showww!!! Is there anything involveed like credit cards of sokething or do you have to buy some expensive equipment as well? You probably have to buy equipment but hopefull it is 100% legit. How to they afford that though, They must have alot of ads on their site and they must spam your email address pretty good so they are able to afford all the costs that come with broadcasting any radio show in the wiolrd. THis is still awesome and I am definteley going to look into these guys to make my own radio internet show!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to be liscensed to opperate a internet radio station at least in the USA. There are places like loudcity that will help you with that you pay them a monthly fee and theyare able to sub license you and they take care of your royalities. You can either send them a list of music played or you can use something like sam that supports .Pal scripts and it will send it to them actomatically. 

I hope you are paying royalty fees for the music your playing...

There is no sub license, there is no license period.  Where did that idea come from?You can sign up with a few co-op groups for a small fee (listed below) that will cover your royalty fees for broadcasting of copyrighted music.Yes, royalty fees.  The music that you are downloading for .99 cents, the CDs that you are purchasing at your local store or for some of you that shamefully are stealing from the artists that are illegally downloading via bitorrants or Kazaa, these mp3s/music are Copyrighted  material.  You do not owand this music even if you purchased the CD.  All you own is the plastic that it is burnt on, that is it.I know about these things since our station has been broadcasting on the internet for over 10 years now and own over 1000 pieces of this round shinny plastic. There are 25+/- thousand tracks of music on our server. We do not own a single one of them...  There is software out there for free to broadcast on the internet, but there are some better software packages for a price that you may be able to afford.  We use an affordable software called SAM by SpaciaAudio.  Google it...  There is a free trial of this software and it is chuck full of broadcasting features.As for royalties, Live365 and SWcast to name two.  Use Google and search, internet broadcast royalty fees.  SoundExchange, ASCAP, BMI and SESAC  are the main four groups you must pay fees to.  You have to pay royalty fees to stream/broadcast this music on the internet. You don't want to get busted playing/streaming copyrighted music without paying.  The fines can be more than the fines you get from getting caught downloading the music illegally.  They will estimate how many listeners you have how many tracks of music you have and how long you have been broadcasting.  This will add up to more time and fines that you can imagine.

Now for the techi part.  Don't think that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is going to let you have 10 to 100s of people connect to your computer to listen to your broadcast.  Our provider switches out our IP every time it sees more then 5 people connected to our stream.  Next is bandwidth.  If you are on a typical Internet service you will only have 1 to 2MB upstream.  If you are on FiOS then, OK you have a bit more. But...  They will not let you have people connect to your server in amounts set by them.  Static IP is the thing that will mess you up if you go via any services such as Shoutcast.  Shoutcast will announce you broadcast but redirect the listeners to your server.  If your provider keeps changing your IP, thats not going to work.There are many streaming providers out there that will take your broadcast and rebroadcast it through their servers that not only keep the IP from changing (Static IP) but also open the bandwidth for many more listeners.  Live365, and Mouse to Mouse Solutions are the companies we use.  Google Internet streaming providers.
