For me it has always been a long search for good hosting, and just when i found one......they diedand i think it happens to all free hosts (including Xisto)..i've had 1 reliable host, it was always up, they did give me what i wanted, and it all worked, but they died (it was crazyghost.com) so i hope Xisto will host me. and i don't like the A_VERY_LONG_NAME.COM/MY_DOMAIN because it's just damn hard to type, so 2 advices:1) take a domain, for example: http://www.whateveryouwant.com/ (.net, .org, .info....)2) take a subdomain, yoursub.website.comthe first one is better, and not that expensive..

I think you are looking for a free web hosting. The web hosting you are looking for should support PHP and sendmail, thus your mail() function can work.I seeks this too. I only find the Lycos.co.uk suuports this. Besides Lycos also provides a mysql usage for each account. I have tested the mail() function in somes PHP scripts, it works. Is Lycos good? I don't think so. Maybe I am stupid, I never success to login its FTP server, although Lycos claims that it support FTP server and it gives me the account id and password. All I can do is to use the webftp to upload my scripts by handmade. If you can image that, you will know it's terrible nightmare if you are building a website with a lot of files. No matter you upload files or backup them. Moreover, the advertise sucks. Their advertises holds you action on the browser until they vanish. The advertises also overlap some portion of your page. Anyway, if your request is not too high, I think that it can satisfy you. At least that's the only one which supports PHP, MySql, mail() I've found. The most importance is that it is not in the safe mode, thus you can create directories or files in PHP scripts. You cannot except when or whether you will use it.Therefore I think a good free web hosting site should be php supported, mysql supported, sandmail supported, and not in safe mode. If you find another, please tell me!

Yes Xisto does have the MAIL function enabled, though of course if its used for spam etc.. that can easily be spotted and that person would be banned! So yes MAIL is enabled for all users but just make sure that what ever you use it for couldn't be considered spam etc... Mistakes can easily be sorted but if your account got suspended or anything because it was mistakenly seen as spamming it would be a pain in the backside!

Of course Xisto has the PHP mail. :) When you get finished collecting credits then activate the subdomain you have chosen, you get a confirmation screen that lists all the good stuff that I can't cut/paste here or I will be punished. You will see everything that is installed on the server including the version of PHP, your FTP host access information etc. Of course you have to keep the credits up or be disabled, so if the question is where is a free host like Xisto which has PHP mail and does not require maintenance, I don't know. Sorry, but I gave up looking when I found Xisto. (by the way the mail function is part of the PHP core so no additional installations are required other than an email system that PHP has access to by way of the PHP.INI config file).Free hosting with PHP, mysql, mail and the like is surely short lived as we have seen over and over again. Stick with a place like Xisto because there is a good business case that is convincing enough to see the future of free hosting. I would much rather contribute in this way than have to put up with banners and constantly changing policies of unscrupulous, fly-bu-night free host sites. Once I put up a site and had 30 days of no banners then I looked one day after the 30 days and there was so much crap on all sides of the site that I couldn't really see the site anymore, it was all moved around. Very bad. Sometimes you can hack a bit with JavaScript and get the screen to move over after the banners load (cool trick) but they might find you eventually. Better to go with Xisto or similar deal, they are more likely to be in for the long haul.

Mail( ) is not something you, as a hosting member, configure. You can use the PHP command called Mail( ) but it must be enabled. Mail( ) function must be enabled by the server. And Xisto Free Web Hosting, no ads, have enabled Mail( ) plus other things like Safe_Mode = Off. This is very rare compare to other free web hostings, no ads on the net. The reason is for their best interest and not yours; by turning it off protects their servers from malicious usage.Xisto is the best free web hosting on the web. You can give it a try with our starting package--it requires just 10 hosting credits. And when you are satisfied with our hosting upgrade to the default package of 500mb space and 10000mb bandwidth.
