Mcafee Siteadvisor Checks general security of many sites

Recommended Posts

I stumbled across the SiteAdvisor service from the SiteAdvisor plugin I installed in Firefox (not that I use Firefox or anything....I truthfully like Opera). It can give you a general security review of most sites on the Web, and you can easily submit one that isn't (like for example, Xisto.com is listed and reviewed, but nyceducated.info and mesivtaofroslyn.info aren't - I submitted both). They analyze the number and content of emails that the site sends, the safety of downloads from the site, the safety of other sites that the site links to, and displays a nice summary of it all. I would give this site two thumbs up :) .

I have used McAfee SiteAdvisor for a while now.It wasn't owned my McAfee a few months back, it was just SiteAdvisor. At least I think it was.I stumbled upon it on Download.com, I reviewed it and recommended that it was essential for Firefox users to have this extension. There is also a version for Internet Explorer. I have signed up for comments on sites rated by SiteAdvisor, I forgot my password :).Some ratings are helpful, they help me decide should I sign up or download from this site. Most of the time I do look at my icon at the bottom.Try it today and see what it does for you!

I have McAffe and I didn't even know that it had a site advisor. So what does it do other than what was stated in the first post? I mean is their any benefits from having it other than the ones stated? And how in the heck does it get all of that information about downloads? Does it scan all known downloads and look for viruses on each site, and if so, wouldn't that take a long time? Or is their like a submission service to where people review sites, and send their reviews to the McAffe reviewing advisor, and it averages out the scores and gives a total average, and if so, couldn't people give certain sites atrocious, or VERY HIGH scores to mislead customers? Sorry, I am just a little interested in how this works.

The SiteAdvisor site allows you to look up the security aspects of many web sites. go to http://www.siteadvisor.com/final/index.html, scroll to the box at the bottom of the page, and type in a random, existing domain (like Xisto.com for instance).

It will bring you to a page with information on the domain you entered.

Hmm. This is a very interesting and useful thing! And it is good that it is being "run" by a quite decent and well known anti virus company, such as McAfee. I'm surprised that this is the first time that I have heard of this, especially since I am currently a McAfee customer/subscriber. I've already downloaded it, and am using it now. Sweetsauce! :)

Site Advisor in Continuous Loop. Very frustrating. Mcafee SiteadvisorSite advisor keeps telling me it's loaded, asks to install and then creates a continuous loop that I can't get out of. A blue panel is on the screen at all times that says my "McAfee Site Advisor software has been updated. I can't get rid of it! I click install, but the next time I load IE it comes up again. I'm ready to dump this entire program if I don't find out how to stop this. HELP!
