Blabbo - The Life Of A New Website (the progression of a new web presence)

Tue, 23 May 2006 - A new domain name was registered - BLAbbO.info. Immediately, I began creating this website. I worked day and night until I was happy with it. There was no way I was going to let my website be known until it was complete.

 

Wed, 24 May 2006 - Now that I was satisfied with the work on my new website, I submitted it to over 80 search engines and 3 directories (including Google, Yahoo!, MSN and DMOZ).

 

Thu, 25 May 2006 - It is now about 5am and I went to check Google. I am not indexed yet. Next, I went to Yahoo! and checked. Nothing there yet. Finally, I checked at MSN. I'm indexed there in less that 24 hours! So far things are looking pretty good. When I took a look at my awstats I noticed (not including my own) I have a total of 21 unique visitors. And, as this website is an article directory, already I have had one person submit an article that I now have published.

 

I must be doing something right as this is a brand new website and already it's getting traffic even though it is less that 48 hours old at the time of this writing. As time progresses, we'll see whether this "experiment" is successful or not. You never know, if it is successful, maybe I'll end up writing an ebook.

Sun, 28 May, 2006 - BLabbO.info is now indexed in all 3 of the major search engines. It sure took a while to get indexed by Yahoo and Google. Latest statistics show more than 4400 hits since I registered the domain name. Though it's not very many, there are 11 subscribers to the website so far. What do you expect? The website is only 5 days old! So far, the experiment is moving right along. We'll have to see what the future holds...

Not bad. Better than I could do. It is a pretty nice site and hopefully will be big one day. I like the design. You sure do have a ton of ads on there though. I like the banner it is neat. I hope you plan on hiring other people to read through articles if they start coming in more and more because it will take a lot of time and people will be looking for a responce. Good luck in the future.By the way...you can use the edit button to add on to your post and change the topic to say something like you have but in parentheses (Updated ##/##/####)

Did you submit at each of those 80 engines, or did you use one or a few sites which auto submit them to all?
if so, the link please

The sites not half bad either.
Its clear and simple.
Really not a fan of the header graphics and font, but thats just down to my tastes.

what is http://www.articledashboard.com/ ?
is it a CMS of some sorts?
did you jsut add the content and customize the layout?

The colors could be a little more vibrant, but it's pretty nice. My only real complaint would be the use of Comic Sans, a font I absolutely detest. You also might want to make the font a little bigger, change the color of the text that says "Search" - make it bold, more visible, add a border to the text-area, etc. Something to make it stand out. When you're on a site that's going to be linking to as many things as you are, you want to be able to narrow things down. You also might want to move the actual site navigation up a little bit. Most people look to the top or the left for navigation, so that's probably a better place for it. The rest of it's fine. Good work

6 days is a long time to get indexed? you're dreamin'. good site though. simple. as far as the links, intersting that you put them on the left side. i wonder if it was on purpose you put google ads on the upper right. the place people look at first when reading a site. can get you more money in the long run with adsense. curious to eventually find out your ratio of visitors to clicks is.

 

i was gonna tell the others not to critique it since it's new am sure you will be tinkering with it here and there until you're happy with it, but i have to agree with the guy who commented about your search. it needs to be bolder or in a different color. good work. hard work paying off is exciting
