Making My Site More Popular and anything else that comes to mind

Recommended Posts

Hi,
I would like to know if anyone has any sugestions on how to make my site popular to more audiances. My site currently has a popularity of about 5 people a day. It is linked to few sites. It is listed on MSN, Yahoo! (not verified), And google. It is part of googles sitemap program and is also part of is adsence program. Now that ive giving the information heres the link: IDI Metal Music. I would be interested in making any link exchanges but im not interested in making it to sites that have nothing in commen with my site. (to make an exchange request put my link on your site and leave the url that the link is on in a reply or an email (viewsite for contact information). And any other suggestions on how to make the site popular is appreaciated.
Thanks

Well this basically takes a lot of hard work and persaverance. You can't give up. The more sites you are linked to and link back, the more people you will get, and the higher the rank you have in google, yahoo, msn etc;. If you keep trying to find other sites related to yours you will start to get more hits and then more people will tell their friends and stuff. Just offer the people something and they will keep coming back. Good luck.

May I recommend using CSS, it will make your website a whole lot better, also make a nicer navigation, go to https://www.milonic.com/index.php and get a free navigation bar.
You can even get premade website templates like PHP-Nuke, POST-Nuke, Mambo or Joomla. These are easily manageable with an administration panel and some come with a built-in forum.

If you need help with CSS you can post here or email me admin[at]schematicstation[.]net

You could list it on places like yoursite.nu or acidgloss.net listings. And linking to it in forum signatures. But in the end, if you have a good site, you will get visitors and if it's *BLEEP* you won't.

Totally agree the more sites you join which include other sites, topsites, link exchange programs and using SEO tools you can increase your viewership. Also we want to keep on adding new content every day as well to keep epople interested and also another good suggestion is put up a forum as well they usually get good responses but that takes time as well.

You recommend using CSS (good) first and then recommend using a javascript menu like Milonic (bad).
Search engines spiders don't like those complex javascript-generated menus because the links aren't actually there in the source of the page for them to be able to follow.
So yes, use CSS, but if you're going to use it, use it properly and build your dropdowns with CSS as well.

well in addition to what been already said..you may want to advertise in even more places like your signature and post a lot of topics...the more you post the more people who will check it out.Another thing is to submit it to a lot of directories so that people know you're there alright. Encourage your users to invite their friends and families.Link exchanges are very important in order for Google to notice you...I would advise you to link up with other sites that are relevant to your seo or sites with PR.

You need to invest more money in your advertsing to get more visitors.Or you can put advertistments on other people websites and pay them a little sum of money per month like mine.If you are intersted in putting and advertistment on my website for just $20 a month (normal $50) contact me at catterpillar_boy@hotmail.co.uk.Anyone else can email me for this offer too. This much cheaper compared to paying pay per click.YOur advertistments will be featured on several websitesThanks

The thing to keep in mind about websites is that they will grow slowly. Most of them grow based on word-of-mouth.I am working on a site right now that is very small in terms of user-base but it's less than a week old as well. I fully expect it to take around a year to hit a 500 person mark. But I won't give up on it.The biggest mistake people make when designing a website is that they look at it and say "It's a failure." and give up on it. Don't do that.

Another way is too write articles that pertain to your website. Not spam so to speak but if you're website is about music, write articles about music that have links to your site, and thensubmit these articles to article directory submission sites. People will borrow these articles to use on they're websites, thus your site gets exposure more and more around the worldwide web amd more and more people read it. Apparantly it can snowball. It seem slike a good idea to me.

When you speak of article submission sites, do you mean that you just copy and paste the whole article, just give the link, or how does that work?

And what are some decent ones to use?

I'm quite interested in that, but I would hate for it to be like the millions of "link directories" where they really don't even help you.

It is a lot of work actually registering for the sites and submitting articles.
Of course the articles must be pretty good also.
Some of them are funny to format. They don't accept much HTML
so it's a lot of editing.

Heres some sites : http://www.amazines.com/
http://www.articlesbase.com/
http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

All of them accepted articles from me,although how well they'll do
is to be seen.Just blab about something that has to do with your site
and include links to your website.

I'll definitely do that once it's up and running, and thanks for that information.I was told that another way to get visitors is to visit blogs as well, adding your link to them when you post a reply. Do you think this really matters or even makes a small difference? My understanding is that page rank is based on how many outgoing links there are on a site, as well as that specific page's PR. For example, if a PR4 has 10 outgoing links, they will be much more powerful than a PR4 that has 20 outgoing links, as the PR4 is splitting the outgoing PR.So wouldn't blogs be useless, since most of them have a lot of outgoing links?
