2 Webcams In A Web Page?

Recommended Posts

Hopefully this is the best place for this question. Many of you will have used MSN messenger and seen how they embed the 2 webcam images in a window...is it possible to do a similar thing via the web? While scouting through the web I found a naughty website that had a web cam on it...which is part one and suggested that you could also have a web cam goin the other way.I think this was done possibly using Java? Can anyone recommend a technology/language that would be best suited to this task please? Thanks for you time

hm... you can do it by java i think but the problem is how to broadcast it.i think there is a program caled Active WebCam google for it, it broadcast whatever you wont from your web cam to some page or someone. When you get that program and find out how to use it ( i think its not that dificulty ) then there wouldnt be a problem for that how to setup to your page.

There is ofcourse a way to do this. you can use plain html really. what you can do get a program to make a picture of what the webcam is seeing at the moment and save it somwhere where it can be accessed. then you can make the page refresh every 3 seconds or something and then you a webcam type thing. this way you can put an infinate number of webcams on a website but it would take a long time to load them. with java you can also do more than one webcam. as long as you have access to cams i think you can put however many you want into the java application. i think for a website the best solution is java because so manypeople have it. alternatively you could also try with macromedia flash to connect to webcams. i have seen both ways used on websites already and it works pretty good. anyways good luck eh?

I dont think i understood but i believe that what you are trying to do is a 2 line web cam site, so a person who enters your site views you, as you see him. I dont think it can be easily achieved without some kind of validation from both users, or at least the 'second one' and i think it will only work with one user at a time (besides the 'main' user), and they might have to set their own web cam in order to make it work... I think it will be a little bit messy and hard to achieve...
