So I created another website. Hopefully this one will be rated a little more highly than my last one. (Very few rated me above 5 :) )

Here it is. Please rate its design and not what the site has in it (its content).

I like how when you hover a link, it sort've moves to the right. However, the gradient box (where you write) looks unfinished. Maybe you should add a border? And, also because of the gradient, your design looks uneven. Maybe create another layer with the gradient starting from the right and then change the blending mode to softlight (if you use Photoshop)? I think that might help your design. I think in designs, you try to give a rounded feel, instead of something leaning to one side. Also, perhaps you should change your background--I'm just not too fond of the font you used, unless it's like a FBI site. Another thing, the gradient makes the color of the words look odd in the left side. So, just even out your gradient and add a border or something similar to that around your box and the design would look better :)

I am really not feeling this one at all. The gradient looks really out of place going from brown to almost white brown and then straight the background. It seems sort of wierd going horizointally instead of vertically. The light blue banner really doesn't fit in my opinion. Everything is brown and then bam a teal banner. Very plain and could use quite a bit of improvement but it's not that bad.

what they said. Lighten up the left hand side of the Main content area. I can't read it at all. Otherwise a nice site. Overall - 7/10

I hae a resolution of 1280x1024, and you have not allowed for such large resolutions. Try using the CSS function 'max_width' e.g max_width: 1000px;Other than that, the code is messy and the design is a bit um... dark and boring. its alright mind 6/10

i liked the background but honestly the font color inside the layer is brown, and i missed the text a little, why dont you try changing to a different color?, or use a dark and a light color, that always works for example yellow with red (yellow as background) or similars.

I, like cragllo, have a resolution of 1280x1024. This results in the gradient background repeating itself, so it fades brown to white, then suddenly goes brown again. The text also spills over a bit and its quite hard to read at the start of the gradient. The background image doesn't line up either, so that text has sudden jerks in it where the imake starts again.Nice design, but needs a little more thought. 6/10

I dunno, theres something with this site that doesnt make it look alive. I guess it is probably the colors combination, just too much brown. Also the background looks a bit heavy for eyes, i guess.

I think you should seriously try using different colors and a differente BG. Also make it a bit more available for non registered users.

Cheers!! and good nite all... :P

2/10The background of the site tiles in larger screen resolutions.the brown colours don't look very nice. The brown text blends into the abckground almsot and is difficult to read.the sky blue buttons and banner look so out of place.there are random lines next to the navigation buttonssorry, but if you want people to go to your site whren their bored then try and put more care into the design.I mean the layout is fine, jus change the graphics and text colour.

1/10I don't think it is ever a good idea to use a gradient as a background unless you use a gentle gradient from a light color to white or some other light color. You have a dark color. It makes it difficult to match the graphics such as buttons and also makes it difficult to read the text in your site.Besides this, I don't like the choice of colors. The brown and light blue is absolutely terrible. Also, there are lines in between the buttons. Was that intentional? It looks pretty bad.

I like the background. But as they said, the gradient doesn?t look good, maybe with more symmetry. And I think you have too much fonts in there... the one of the title, the buttons, the text and the background. It doesn?t give a global sensation. But I like the color scheme. And I know it?s not a design advice, but I?d also make it more open to non-registered users.6/10 for me

I haven't seen these strange lines between the buttons or the blue banner which everyone talks of. In fact this is all I see:

http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Even with ie6 (and neither with ff1.07), I don't see this banner. The only difference is that the images have a coffee coloured background because of the transparancy bug, which I may fix.

So, erm, can I see some screenshots of this sky blue thing?

The main critisism seems to be the tiling background and that the gradient is too dark. I'll alter that over the weekend when I have more time.
