Recommended Posts

Joomla!

to those who don't currently know, Mambo has ceised development, and in its place is the re-branded Joomla!. Its just had its first V1.0 release (yes v1.0)

Anyways, jsut go round the site and have a looka round and see what it has to offer  if you've used Mambo before, then it looks pretty much the same, but has lots of new fixes etc, but is easily upgraded, just consult the online help section.

i'm personally going to downlaod it and have a tinker with it and try get the hang of it.

Mambo is really a good CMS. With a lot of features inbuilt and with so much plugins the mambo is certainly the best and easiest CMS.

Mambo devepment team is facing some problems, But it is not dead yet. Visit http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ for news updates. In recent Google coding challenge Mambo was chosen as a target product by google among other great opensource projects.

Joomla [ https://www.joomla.org/ ] looks somewhat similar to Mambo.

Joomla is bassicly the latest version of mambo.

as far as i know, there won't be anymore mambo releases.

Joomla is built on top of mambo.

Whatever is said here has so far some misinformation on mambo and joomla. mambo was an open source content management which was under miro pty ltd untill recently when mambo foundation was founded to protect mambo. However, the original mambo developers who had allowed mambo to scale such height that it even won the best cms till date accused mambo foundation of trying to commercialize what the developers want ed it to remain as an open source.

Therefore, those mambo original developers left mambo and formed a new fork which is called joomla. Thus joomla version 1.0.0 is the same as mambo version 4.5.2.3 till this release both are the same. However, mambo called in new developers which released mambo version 4.5.3 which is really big in zip file as well and with lots of bugs. While Joomla also release Version 1.0.1 with lots of improvement over the previous version. From these two releases mambo and joomla will go a very different path..

mambo is definitely not dead.. but developers have changed since most of the developers have left them and started a new cms called joomla...
