Yahoo Mail Beta New Look for Yahoo Mail

Recommended Posts

hi friends,

Yahoo is supposedly testing its new interface for Yahoo Mail. It looks more like MS Outlook with the folders etc in a left pane, the mail box on the top half of the right and preview on the bottom.

Also a tabbed view if multiple mails are open. Just like Lotus Notes for those who have used it.

The Email wars are heating up and the end users are getting newer and better features. Finally something is happening in the Email world since Gmail coz otherwise the thing was stuck up with MSN and Yahoo and no major improvement or competition since a long time.

Yahoo has form for those interested in joining the beta test(not sure when they would be able to), but this would add u as an interested beta tester.

Cheers.

Looks like a nice clean interface, good work from Yahoo. :ph34r:This is new for me, I didn't know Yahoo was planning to redesign their email interface, but of course it's good news, from what i saw of the pictures.Indeed the email industry really needs another big change since Gmail came online with it's HUGE email capacity, cause now users are seeking good looking and easy to use features to make the task of sending and receiving emails more easier and relaxing. :DAnd yes, Hotmail really needs to change..

I just took a look at the beta upgrade for Yahoo Mail and it looks much slicker this time around. I especially like the tab features and the "Outlook/Thunderbird" feel to the new design. Good on the folks at Yahoo!

Well I think you are right It started happening after GMAIL came into the picture otherwise till that time we all used to get 2 MB or 10 MB now a days we are getting 1 GB from yahoo and 250 MB from hotmail....now after GMAIL it seems to me that yahoo and hotmail want people to stay with them but popularity of GMAIL is not allowing them to do so...so they thought of coming up with better interface....I am happy with HOTMAIL's interface and it functionalities and YAHOO's new interface is also looking promising..but I wanted to join the beta testers thing..but saw that it is only available for those people who are using @yahoo.com address not for others. One thing is for sure that GMAIL's interface is nice and simple but it lacks lot of functionalities for e.g. Calendar, Notes, Address book's advanced features like export, mailing list........I think these are some of the features which GMAIL will have to bring in fast..so as to stay at the no. 1 position of the email service providers.

SWEET! ITs only because of this interface, many people used Outlook express and other pop3 clients. Good thinking Yahoo! I hope this mail will again throttle up the no. of people using Yahoo Mail.

I hope this mail will again throttle up the no. of people using Yahoo Mail.

Why? After Hotmail, Yahoo's already the biggest spam magnet on the planet. The more people who use it, the worse it'll get. I'm not particularly excited about the changes as the only thing I use my Yahoo account for is to sign up to things I think there's a high likelihood I might get ancilliary spam from.

Anyone know if yahoo is going to offer pop access with this new mail system. That is the best thing about gmail. I do get my y! mail with YPops but it was slightly more painful to set up.Just wondering if they were going to follow suit with gmail and let people download their mail if they want to.

Yeah so its a fairly nice interface and all but who needs Yahoo anymore, we've all got Gmail accounts, right?. it looks like their all at it first Microsoft did it and I assume even Google will do it an take inspiration from pretty much every emial client ever, and bring in the 3 pane look, while I dont think this is a bad thing, I personally like that way of organising my messages, and It does look as if Yahoo has managed to implement it very well, we should consider one thing, within a few months (if not sooner) Google will have done it better.

I'm really curious about the new interface of Yahoo Mail. I'm going to visit the link right now and tell impressions about it. There are a lot of nice pictures on the address that is above. Can we test this new interface at yahoo mail. The last beta interface that was used by google could be tested out by enabling an option from the general preferences. I'm going to access my account and see if I have such an option again. The Interface is very clean and I really like it. It looks very similar to the Yahoo Messenger interface. :ph34r:

yeah, I too am curious to try out the new Yahoo Beta.. but it is not available to everyone. Moreover even if you want to register as an interested beta tester, you need to have a "yahoo.com" email address. So guess, I have to wait till a wider release is available or beta testing is available for other yahoo mail domains.Till then, if nyone of u get to test the beta, please do post here a few screenshots and also more importantly about all the new features there are available.Cheers.

It is my opinion that yahoo is loosing way too many users to GMail. Once gmail users started having more and more invites all of a sudden Yahoo has 1GB of storage and now they are working on a more sleek and ingenious design. I am not surprised. Mail is a comodity that more and more people need and use as the world continues to evolve and become more technologically dependent as well as based. So much more can be done with the use of email and electronic conferences. In order to be competative the email clients out there have to grow and become better with the times and the technology. For Yahoo the less users they have the less the advertisers will be getting and the less revenue that yahoo and other email account providers will be getting. I think its all about the dollar because if they don't provide a great service then the consumer will go somewhere else and <- snipped -> there. }

Competition is good. I'm glad to see Yahoo! is trying to be innovative. But it gets more and more difficult as a company gets bigger and bigger. My bet is on Google and Gmail for future growth. Although I am a Yahoo! mail subscriber and use that service regularly.
