Mambo Templates Best templete sites, how to make own...

This thread is for disscusing Mambo Open Source CMS (MOS). Post any links to Mambo related sites (template sites, module sites, or whatever mambo). If you have tutorials for creating own templates post here.I personally need some tutorial for using CSS when creating Mambo templates, and some reference to all the classes, divs etc (e.g. mainmenu, button...) of modules (menus, polls etc).

Yeah ive used mambo and i have to say its very powerfull if you can make it do what you want. And ive printed out the design template and css to look ever it but i have to say i dont understand anything of it. If you ware new to css and html and want to learn a bit how to use it i would suggest. going to W3Schools and just starting to learn the stuff from there. The tutorials there arnt to long and you should just about know what you need in 2 or 3.

just to give you an example of how css works. you have

<div id="bla">..... in the html page and in the css part you will have

#div {

some kind of formatting stuff.

}

and in there you can write what color you want stuff to be. or how big and many more stuff.

I already knew that, but thanks anyway. Today I have found a template in which there are all of the possible tags (like a.pathway:link, a.pathway:visited, or a.mainmenu:hover and table.moduletable) so I can now customize anything I want (in modules and on the content) in css templete file. I use that file for every new template I start creating, and just change settings. I also found a nice tutorial with all the MOS php codes (like <?php mosLoadModules ( 'right' ); ?> and <?php include_once ("mainbody.php"); ?>) so I can put my content anywhere I wont. Nice!P.S. most of this knowledge was taken from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and they have a great tutorial called ''MOS Template tutorial 101'' or something like that. take a look

you can use Joomla, But i would advise Joomla, as its a newer version of it.

Just an FYI for everyone: the future of the Mambo project is not really looking so good these days. If you want the features that Mambo offers, but with a more active community, use Joomla instead.

A site with some really sharp templates (some free, some commercial) is Joomlart (https://www.joomlart.com/). In particular, their JA Mercury template (if you can manage to find it - look in the Downloads -> Free Templates section) is extremely customizable, and offers some great built in features (like built in TransMenu or Suckerfish menus).
