Give Me Website Ideas.. Website Ideas : Something original. Ideas for making a site

Recommended Posts

Website Ideas

I'm deciding to take down my site, it's getting kind of old and boring, but I don't want to just stop with having a site.

I need some ideas for something that provides a service of some sort to people. There are millions of blogs, I really don't want to post about my life on a daily basis anyway.

All ideas will be welcomed, I can't seem to think of anything at all, so Im asking you.

What could my new website be about?

There are millions of blogs, I really don't want to post about my life on a daily basis anyway.

And the likelihood is that people won't want to read them. Glad you're not doing that. Each site has it's own theme which fits in with what the user likes doing. Blogs are ideal for this but since they're so boring and half of them send me to sleep in the first half page, do something else. If you want traffic think of something interesting and original.

Base your site on your favourite sport or activity. You could base it on games but you do you need to attract visitors with something because I can think of a million and one games sites. Attract them with...

No ads

Great graphics

A variety of types of games

A good layout and clear navigation

On the other hand you could make your site a clan site (if you're a member of one) or a site which gives tutorials about php. Although there are many of those around aswell, few provide a massive library. Those many with just three or four don't attract many visitors.

These are just a few of the many things you can base your site on. When you do decide what you're doing, always ask yourself "If I were someone else, would I go on this site?"

I disagree. My site gets 2000 unique visitors on weekdays and 500 unique visitors on weekends. I put ads on my site (there are ads on every single page), and my site is not that great graphics-wise, but I still get more visitors than what most could hope. As long as you don't overdo the ads, then you should still get visitors.

That's nice. Really nice.

You can make a site about babes, they are fun to make :) and you have a lot of vissitors if you make a good one.

But dont make it a lame porn site! Just a nice site about babes is always sweet ;)

...you can't make a porn site with Xisto free hosting anyway, so that's out of the question.

Dude, just go with whatever you like, be it graphics or writing or whatever. It's your site - you can post anything you want within certain legal boundaries. Just have fun with it. Make a little bit of everything.

First of all, I think you should use Microsoft Frontpage 2003 for creating your website because it gives you ultimate control of how your website should look. This will give your website a new attractive theme. For graphics, you can use softwares such as Caligari Truespace 3.2, or Macromedia Flash. These softwares are downloadable from the net as sharewares or trials. This will give your website nice graphics. For the content, you can choose to put whatever you want, such as: Religion, Sports, Entertainment, and a Game website. However, I think that game websites take a lot of bandwith, therefore, I wouldn't choose it. There are a lot of ideas, but it is your choice as to what interests you. Hope this helps. :)

I suggest making your website unique. Find new templates or create your own site design based on your interests. Example, your favorite color, and a wonderful color combination. Make sure that the links and colors of the texts are a little similar to your site's design. Also, your website must be 100% compatible in all browsers. Use PHP if you can, it will make your website coding much easier. You can also use 1 PHP file for all of you website's pages. Finally, if you can, try to use the new XMLHttpRequest, it saves you bandwidth and also, it will make your website really unique from others. :)

I recommend Dreamweaver over Frontpage any day. Frontpage has the tendency to ruin perfectly good sites. But round doesn't need to worry about the method of creation - that part's been intricately established through all the flash work.

I think you guys lost the point of the topic entirely :/ Round needs ideas ABOUT the site, not the technology used to make it.

But seriously, round, go with your own flow. Pick out colors that appeal to you and throw them into the works. It's what you did on your other sites and it definitely worked :)

I wouldn't recommend using Dreamweaver nor Frontpage. Code the baby yourself. That's how I coded my site. Your code will most likely be validated if you code your site yourself than if you use other code generators. Second, if you code it yourself, you know exactly what you put in it. With other programs, they might insert weird JavaScript code when you use a script or something. Surely you don't want that.

Tell me about it! I've ran out of my alloted 5 GB bandwidth 3 months in a row now!

Use notepad, that will give you ultimate control over how your website looks. Frontpage will write code for Internet Explorer and I've looked and code created by this program (yes you can tell) with quite a few mistakes.

Register for imageshack.us, they host flash files so it won't cost you a kb in bandwidth to have games.

Whoops, don't know how I thought it was Round. *sheepish* Anyways, I do a lot of my random coding in Notepad, but it's nice to be able to see what your site is going to look like so you can get rid of immediate errors before you post. It also helps me remove random code pretty easily. For PHP scripts, especially, it's hand to be able to see how many lines there are.

Well, you can create your own blog site. I know you said there are many blogs out there, but you could create a copy of blogger.com. This would allow you to control you own designs and allow other people to conenct to you through posts. It could be used as a new community meeting place.

Well I would suggest you, have a blog but it should be kept in one part, some people want to read blogs all day, like me for example... :) SO this would also attract visitors to your actual website, if you are a good review writer, chose some softwares or websites on which no many reviews have been written and then post them, if you are good at writing songs or poems even post them on to your site, if you good at sketches do post them also.Thats what I am doing, I am working on a new layout for my website before even the last layout was complete but I am going to put up my sketches, my songs, my graphics and everything I do up there so it would be cool.If you are good at coding in some language or the other, put up small snippets you crated up there, people who need them will flock to your page and then advertise it at others places too.Tell all your friends about your site, this surely will attract you visitors...
