My Forums Are Up! Thank you, Tonic

Here are my brand new Xisto-hosted forums, thanks to Tonic, who set the whole thing up for me.

My Forums

These forums are for all of my websites--some of which are pretty lame, but I'm working on all of them. Please go post something. I don't have any traffic, yet, so there's no reason to hang around, but I really don't want my forums to look naked when I start promoting my sites.

What I'd really like to do is put a little graphic next to the name on each category, so people can recognize when the forums go from one site to another. Anybocy know if that's possible with PhpBB?

I love your forum, it would be better if you don't use PHPBB. if you want to create a forum, make sure that your forum is unique.

Since you use phpBB, you shoudl really customize your forums a whole lot more.
People like to use forums that are extremely unique with one another, because people like to see creativity!

That is my forum, and my friends helped me customize to the extent that I would prefer to have it, and it looks great! I had this forum so far running close to a month, and has served me reliable.

Always remember with phpBB to do updates, so you keep people from hacking and taking control of you forums!

Your forums look great. I guess I still have some work to do.

 

Please explain about updates and getting hacked. I never would have thought of such a thing.

Since phpBB is open source (free download) hackers try it and investigate if there is any security flaws. If there is any security flaws that they can find, they look around on the internet and find forums that arent up to date. If they find one that isnt up tp date, then they try attacking it.The current version of phpBB is 2.0.14. You can find your version in the Administration Control Panel, on the first page at the bottom. It is extremely important that you keep it updated so no one cant hack your forum. The newest version also tells you that its up to date in green text on the main page of the Administration Control Panel.

Forgot to add, you can always download the current version off of phpBB, forget the exact site, just Google it. The version in cPanel is not the up to date one, its always good to update it manually from phpBB's website

If you want to install different styles just visit https://www.phpbb.com/styles/ pick the desire theme, download it and upload it to public_html/forum/templates/name-of-template/ then from your activiate it from your phpBB Admin Control Panel.

Here's the challenge. I want each forum to look different, since they come from 4 different websites. From what I can see, I have to change everything at once. I was hoping I could work around that by putting a little logo on each new forum title line, but I couldn't find any way to do that, either.

 

This is NOT a big deal. I love my forums just the way they are. It's just fun to tweak things a little here and there.

Sorry, I meant "categories" not "forums" in my last post.

 

I checked those other styles and they are AWESOME. I really like ThrillKill and Whatisreal. Now I'm tempted to start fooling around and design my own. Hold me back. I have real work to do. AARRGGHH!
