Two New Sponsored Top-level Domains .JOBS .TRAVEL

Recommended Posts

I still think the .coms, and the .nets have it. I mean, who wants "thecoolestplace4.travel"? you know, it sounds cheezy. I still want a .com.People will probably think ".jobs? is that even a web site?" just like .tk, it dosent have an establishment to the people who know nothing about technical stuff.

they don't even sound like "top-level" domains i would rather prefer 10 thousand times a .com .net .org even a .tk than those... for people who doesn't know of computer it would look like if they're pages with virus or those things, and i don't like the termination u_u... i once saw this host i don't remember the name that offer this kind of domain terminations, but you needed to download a special program (ad-ware) to view them...

What about the .info domains? How do you feel about them? You have even kept .tk domain ahead of .info by just mentioning it there but not mentioning the .info domain there.

I am more interested as I have a .info domain myself! I chose .info over .com or .net for the following reasons:

1. It was cheaper

2. My 0iste is on education, so the domain made sense to me, .info for information. Now don't ask me why I did not go for .edu!

I like .info tlds, but when I was looking to purchse a domain name, I found a .com that I really liked and got it at yahoo! for $4.98. I am still thinking about one for a site on the Arctic or Antarctic because noone who is looking for information on these places will care about what the tld is. (the domain that I got was http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/)

theres other ones too i think:

.ASIA, .MAIL, .TEL, .TEL, & .XXX.

Those are just in the evaluation phase, it takes a while for new TLD's to be approved.

I think the .jobs one will be highly used by the job board sites, the .travel one I believe is sponsored by a travel agency group and will only accept travel agencies and the like so I think it will do better than most ppl would expect, I can't see it being widely used, but it will have a very specialized niche market.

Well, actually all the "dots" are so out of fashion now, I don't see why they don't get rid of them alltogether. Then addresses could be simply words or sentences, and it would be way more modern

by the end of the year, after all technical preparations are ironed out, we will see the launch of .eu. yup, you got it right, the european union will have it's own TLD. :) but they are yet to receive pre-registrations or reservations, and if they do, they will only open it to copyright/trademark holders first. individuals like us may get our hands on .EUs perhaps by middle of next year.

...now thinking of a domain name i can register which sounds good with a .eu tld :P
