I use a content management system for a part of my site. It's called Nucleus. The only reason I like Nucleus is that you can edit its HTML source code to make all your pages W3C compliant. As an added bonus, you can add plug-ins or extensions to Nucleus to make it even more customizable.

Edit: Forgot to close a BBCode tag. Whoops

I have just installed IGaming CMS. It is designed specificly for gaming sites. It is open source and free to download. You can check it out IGaming.comhere.

I am still pretty new to PHP but it installed smoothly for me and I have had no errors in any of the admin sections. Visual customization is a bit of a problem for people like me who don't know much about PHP. Lots of options in this one though.

I use WordPress. It's not exactly a content management system per se, but it's more of a blogging tool that has huge potential and with a bit of know-how you could tweak to make it into a CMS.With Version 1.5 (which is out already) I think you can create pages infinite levels deep and it will all link back from the main page (the directory where you installed it).I only just installed it last night so I couldn't really tell you all of the features but so far I'm loving it. You should go check it out, really. I think it's up at https://wordpress.org/

I use Mambo and have been doing so for over 6 months. I liked it and more modules can be added to it depending on the requirement.btw, there are numerous threads about CMS or content management systems with many view of different cms. You could look at those threads instead of starting a new one.Cheers.

Open source is software made for Non-profit, so its free, and if you was a developer you could look at the source code and tinker with it, closed-source is the opposite, developers don't allow you to look at their source code, and it isn't likely to be free, e.g Linux = open source, Windows = Closed Source!

PHPNuke, I believe, is free. Also, I don't think you can edit the template...although I may be wrong on this one.

You can edit the template on Nucleus though, which is why I like it :o

Hmm, are you sure it doesn't work?? It works fine for me...

sure you can edit the template in PHP-nuke, it actually isn't that difficult, and there is even a primer on how to do this somewhere on one of the community sites, I think maybe nukecops but I can't be sure. It isn't a sinch, unless you just want to throw your logo in etc, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist either. PHP-Nuke is pretty good, I used to use it, but I got hacked so many times I don't think I'll go with it this time, I am thinking Mambo right now, but I haven't decided.

first group,

Siteframe, Nucleus, Wordpress are lite weighted and simple.. perhaps they are more likely blog.. if there are not much peoples involving then either of these are good.. e.g.. wanna do for software releases, game hacks release, entertainment group, artists, writers..and yo dun want much time to spend on web publish/tweak and just wanna launch about ur creativity over net!!!

second group,

phpNuke >> is good, lot of blocks yo can add in, lot of features, lot of hacks yo can find, but somehow heavy weighted(space), good as if yo are using for high-member demand community and very rapid posts/discussion/releases..

Geeklog or PostNuke >> is my second choice.. same feature as phpnuke but minor tweak have difference.. yo cant easily touch the core script to tweak as yo need..

VortexPortal >> as lot of ppls know..yes, good when yo are for gaming.. dun try other..

third group,

Mambo >> a bit complicated.. not so easy to touch the core engine.. but overall outlook is great!! some they limited the main feature!!

phpwcms >> some said good but i never tried before!!

phpWebSite >> took big heap of space, so not tried yet!! space-bandwidth constrain..

Open-source is free.. Close-source is money :D

iGamingcms seem good.. not tried before.. may be for gaming.. :o
