Review My Website (currently In Beta) Im still stumped by my design

Recommended Posts

Hi all, my website is somewhat nearing to a finish, but I really need others opinions on how the site looks. I personally feel that I'm missing something, but can't seem to point out what. I'd like you to be ruthlessly honest and critque, because i don't like to show the world crap. So if you hate it, don't hesistate to say it. (I'm not going to slaughter you with my moderating powers. :D) Tell me where I need improvement, or if I should redo the site all together. If you like it, then tell me what parts of the site you like, and maybe what parts I could improve on.

Here's the link : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Remeber, be ruthlessly honest. :) I don't want to show a really crappy final version. :)

Cheers,

-whyme

lol, you caught so many errors in my site. :) (I can't believe I made all those typos and missing alt tags.) That said, I've corrected them. Thanks.

Crap! I almost forgot about that. Oh well, it's still here. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ i'll have to add it to my beta template later.

Hehe, fixed it now

I have to say I envy your professional-looking site. I really don't want you tp blow my site up, so I'm not going to steal your css :)

When I click the (?) link it brings me to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, which shows it as a source, not a regular site. Maybe it's my browser acting up?

That's all I could see/find, it's very good looking.

It's really nice... you've done a nice modification on it's default layout... The coolest thing in my opinion is your "logo'... In your tittle: "(LOGO) Local | Front".... It's awesome! Really caught my attention... I'm going to make a website for my stepfather (I guess it's written like that) and I'm going to use this kind of colors :) Can I? :) ... You have no power on internet  ... just kidding :D... but... I was thinking on creating it at Xisto... :) .. please... forgive me for what I've written on up :) ...

Yeah, let me tell you, the new one is so much better:

""

^hehe, quote inside a quote :)

Edit: Found another thing. Maybe separate the Categories section and Other Blog or increase the space between the two because they looked kinda smooshed together.

Edit 2:

If not, free free to contact me using the contact form on the site.

Dude, "free free" is still there! :) And I see you have a domain...it doesn't work yet (just a heads up) :D Edited by snlildude87 (see edit history)

Hi all again, thanks for the comments, and here's a little response to everyone's questions.

rejected:

your broswer is working fine :) I've made an error, BlogConnect is actually a a Xisto Blog Affiliates program, so if you have a blog, then feel free to join. :) I've fixed the page now. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

GMTech:

Thanks

JaVe:

Others have also said that the title is a bit too small, I think I'll be expanding the title soon

mizako:

Keep it kicking :)

chiclete:

Feel free to use the colors, I don't own any copyrights to them :D

snlildude87:

Dang it! I thought I corrected the "free free" thing, I'm almost positive that it's not there any more, seriously, I've checked it like a thousand times. :) . If it's still there, leave me a screenshot. I'll also add in another <br /> tag to make the categoris and blogs look "unsquashed" :D . As for the domain, I haven't even registered it yet, :D, soon though, soon.

on a completely different note, you're kicking my *bottom* in the army system, :( dang that stupid reset...

hulunes:

yay, professional is the key.

Hey "whyme" you know your blog isn't working correctly right? The comments and so... you haven't done the PHP yet right? Will you do it? Because I'm going to learn it for being able to do it and tell me one thing... why are you using javascript in spite of php on the blog file?

Whyme is unable to come to the forum right now, so I'll answer your questions in his place.

1. The comments are not working because the file you're looking at is an HTML file, meaning that it's static. It has to be a PHP file in order for comments to work.

2. Yes, he will enable comments in summer of '05

3. He's using JavaScript because it's universal - it works on all the pages of the blogconnect participants despite whatever format they're using (HTML, PHP, or ASP). For example, if a user has a web page that ends in .html, then PHP-blogconnect will not work because HTML cannot support PHP (PHP can support HTML). However, JavaScript works on HTML, PHP, ASP, and possible other file formats. All you have to do is print, or echo, the HTML markup for the JavaScript include, and it will show up! :D

I hope number three makes sense to you. :o
