manuleka 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) ok, this might be just a simple fix but i'm stuck trying to figure out what i'm missing....i've got an xp and vista fileshared... problem is, i can access shared folders on XP machine from Vista but when i tried to open shared folders on Vista from XP i get permission deniednow the Vista machine has password login, (i don't wanna disable password login) but i have enabled everything on network sharing under Vista.... wouldn't Vista prompt me about accessing to enter username/password? help please... cheers Edited May 16, 2011 by yordan (see edit history) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I guess that you have a shared folder on your vista system?First have look if you see the vista computer on the network. In a command-line window, type net viewand check that you see the vista computer.Then, use the following command line syntax on the XP system :net use * \\vystacomputername\vistasharedfolder /user:vistauserOf course you replace "vistacomputername" by the network name of your vista computer, and "vistasharedfolder" is the name of the share on the vista system, and "vistauser" is the name of the vista user.The system will ask you the password of the vista user, and then you will see an answer like "the Z: disk is now mounted" Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
