Illustrious 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 I am pretty sure that all of you have heard of autotune. The purpose of autotune is to correct and disguise pitch problems in musical recordings (vocals, stringed instruments, etc.). Although the program corrects the pitch of your recordings, it often distorts the sound of the recording making it sound a bit like a robot.Artists like T-Pain, Cher, and Kanye West use autotune to the point where it is noticeable to almost everyone who hears the vocals for 5 seconds. The thing about autotune is that many artists are using to to correct pitch problems, in fact, I believe that it is way too overused in pop recordings nowadays. If you listen carefully to Disney recordings, you can hear the autotune pretty clearly.I am fine with autotune being used occasionally here and there but it is used in almost every single pop recording around this time. A YouTuber named David Choi says something about AutoTune in the video description of his "I gotta feeling" cover. He compared AutoTune for McDonalds: I like to compare (auto-tune) to Mcdonalds. Mcdonalds is obviously bad for your health and can kill you if you eat too much of it, but sometimes, it just tastes too good. What do you guys think about Autotune and its usage in the music industry?
