khalilov 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2009 I have a zip file on my desktop which i unzipped, iam sure its not a virus since its from a proefesional game and i downloaded it,like many others, from its official website. Anyways, whenever i try to move or delete it it says that it no longer belongs to this location and i should try again. This is really annoying since its right their on the desktop. I have vista home basic windows.
tansqrx 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2009 The problem of not being able to delete a file is usually because it is still in use by one of the processes in the system. Since this is a game I am assuming that it is either the install or an update. Either way, the files that you ran from the zip probably got hung and never exited properly. The simplest solution is to restart the machine and try again. For some reason if that doesn’t’ work then you can use MoveFile (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897556.aspx) from SysInternals to schedule deletion on the next reboot. Additional help can be found at http://www.softwarepatch.com/tips/howto-delete-xp.html.
