Anyone Here Tried Osx86? Very Interested on this one

Recommended Posts

I recently stumbled upon using OSX on regular PC.. I know, this is old school but before when I tried PearPC, It was so darn slow, I didnt get to install it. My desires to tryout OSX came to me again and tried to look for new alternative, and so it was, OSX86 from this site http://www.insanelymac.com/.

I read on most of there forum but I still wonder how fast does it boot and can most application run flawlessly. Never get to join their forum though, I dont want to get the impression of being a lamer. But does anybody here have already tried it. I do want to hear about the performance and compatibility.

Please also describe which distribution you use and the specs of the system you had used. Thanks

This is the community move to Intel/x86, while Macs were still on PowerPC. Still a bit of use, any x86 I think. "This would mean AMD users could run any application which specifically tests for intel cpus - without having to rely on decrypts or patched versions" on that page.

I am running Mac OS X Leopard on a virtual machine in VMware at the moment. Since my CPU is OK (Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz), it is running at an acceptable speed, but as fast as running Mac OS X Leopard natively on physical hardware. If you interested in running Mac OS X Leopard in virtualisation, search on Google "pcwiz vmware leopard".

I have not tried installing Mac OS X Leopard natively on my computer since I don't have any spare hard disks to test on (not going to try dual-booting quite yet), but if your specifications are similar to those of official Apple hardware, you should be OK. You should check the hardware compatibility lists at:

Guys, please try not to talk people into pirating MacOS X as this is against the rules of the board which may result in account suspension or termination.Try to keep it in the realm of legitimacy. I'm not going to lock this because I don't even know if it's really legal or not since running MacOS X on PC is being contested in courts.xboxrulz
