Mush And Mux's Discussion about the Topic

Recommended Posts

I have discovered that some of the best text based RPG games out there, are server called MUSH's or MUX's. Now most people don't know about MUSH or MUX, so let me explain it a little. MUSH stands for Multi User Shared Hallucination. All MUSH's are based on a coded server, usually using the C/C++ family of coding. Some more modern servers are built from Python and Perl although there are very few. A MUSH is connected to using a client, or Telnet(not recommended). Once the server is up and running, you then build within the actual server and build your game using coded commands.

I have been playing on different MU*'s for a few years now, and I have made lots of friends through RP senarios. Ther eare lots of servers out there with different themes and genres. Some examples are Harry Potter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, LOTR, and many others. Some servers are originally created from the maker of the server.

All in all, MU*'s can be used not only for Role Play, but also in the business world, as business leaders can use them to have around the world meetings and discussions.

So my question to you, is this. Have any of you played on a MU*?
