kiro 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 Is there a way to block proxy connections. Like proxies that generate traffic that is fake for your site. People use proxy lists and then connect them to one site. Is there a way to block that?
RGPHNX 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 Hi kiro,in Cpanel of your hosted account there is a ISP address blocking function. I'm pretty sure you can block a list of ISP addresses if they are in sequence. OR you can enter in each ISP to block once you find out from your stats exactly who the ISPs are that are using up your bandwidth. Don't know if you can block ISPs by a category type (like a proxy server etc.). Problem with this is that over 65% of the people out there with dialup are using dynamically assigned ISP addresses. Which means that if they are on the same ISP subnet as the person/s you want to ban, then they will be banned also.Hope this helps,RGPHNX
Spectre 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 One possible way would be to attempt to establish a connection to the host on common proxy ports, such as 8080, 3128, 80, etc. The only problem is that it would also stop people who either had a web server running on their machine on one of the ports (usually 80), and those who have to connect via an ISP-supplied proxy (there are such circumstances). kiro 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 For sites, the ones that provide free proxy lists. If I block those, would they be blocking people's connections?
