Miles 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 (edited) Okay, so here is what happened:I started my site using sonic-deck.uni.cc as the domain name, assuming I shouldn't prefix it with a www. , however this means that mediawiki which I have installed always goes to sonic-deck.uni.cc and the rest goes to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/,'>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, I believe this can be fixed. I tried rewriterules and redirects but it didn't work. So, could you please switch my domain to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ server-wise?EDIT:I've fixed the problem with mediawiki by adding changing the $wgServer variable to my site's url. Although it would still be nice to edit the domain. Most hosting or domain name server should have supported wild card for domain name by now. Mine is automatically enabled. I do notice that sometime it doesn't work. But it works well on Xisto the last time i tested.Even then I still notice some hosting still doesn't support it, still insisting on having to prefix with www.Anyway, try look under subdomain or sometime like that under your cpanel or similar hosting management system. Look for the term wildcard. If not, you can try send an email to your hosting's admin to request him to do it for you.Good Luck Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Although it would still be nice to edit the domain.There is no way to change you domain...Your domain is sonic-deck.uni.cc. There is no www in a domain name. The www is used to indicate that you want the publicly accessible portion of a website. www is a subdomain on your website that is publicly accessible!In your case, there is no distinction between http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and sonic-deck.uni.cc have a look:http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/I believe that you specified the www in your site address (url) in your portal software.In fact, all of your internal links except forum are www! Mordent 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2008 On a coincedental note, I'm just wondering when putting "/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi; in front of your domain name stopped working and when it got back to working again. Last night (GMT) I had trouble with one of my addon domains, with the version without the "/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi; not working at all, and with it working fine. Now, both work absolutely fine.
